Because Smash is trying to push you out of it?

I don't know what this means. Is this a joke I'm missing, or are you just trying to work Smash in here somewhere?

There's been a lot of that lately. Spoonerisms, malaprops, double negatives, misstatements. It's been a literary madhouse.

Yeah, it stuck with me. As for the store, your wife probably holds the strongest hand there. They wouldn't miss one or two folks, but regular large orders like that might just impact their bottom line. It's a franchise, though. Any chance of contacting the owner?

Corporate is contacting hte franchise owner with the complaint and I have included the information about the mrs. in the letter so that I know the owner will see it.

You want me to go to the giant HQ in Oakbrook and raise a fuss for you? I can film them throwing me out just like those kids in the Truth anti-smoking ads.

I doubt I would have become upset as you but maybe I would have, depending on the day. I suppose a strongly worded letter would be the extent of my unhappiness although, in reality, I'd just ***** a lot on the drive home and forget about it.

For as much as people ***** about McD's, I find it nummy enough on occassion. And Fillet o' Fish is still a Lent-time staple. I find that the worst burger price/value ratio comes from Burger King which is apparently of the opinion that a Whopper with cheese should be valued more highly than gold.

I'm a big fan of filing formal complaints when the need arises. To me it translates to less ***-hats working in the customer service industry and normally free meals for my family and I. In this case, no one talks to me like that in public and gets away with it. I try hard to maintain my composure in these events, then I vent in long winded complaints to their superiors. I find it helps me feel better, and I'm all about making me feel good.

Letter writing and phone calls are handled very seriously by corporate people who have little better to do than punish the employees without really addressing the root causes.

Basically, hiring stupid people.

Well, it's good that you're complaining to a higher power. If nobody ever complains, then there's no way that the folks higher up will ever know there's a problem.

As for the situation, I probably would've asked for my money back then and there. I know the kids wanted iced cream and there was a line but I don't pay money (whatever the amount) to be ignored then treated rudely. I'd find someplace else to get the kids a treat. I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to speak with the day manager, but I'd definately send an letter to someone higher up on the food chain.

I deal with real life people like I do with you imaginary people; instead of getting all caught up with emotion and responding as such, I prefer to bide my time and not give the other person the satisfaction of getting me riled. I'd rather they throw a hissy-fit so that I have lots of ammunition to work with when making the complaint. The same goes with someone threatening bodily harm. In Canada, if you do nothing physical to the assailant until they actually take a swing at you, you can claim self defense. If you are coaxed into hitting them first, you go to jail for assault. It's a good discipline to practice.

Last time I ordered a burger at McD's it came back nearly raw. It looked cooked on the outside, but the inside wasn't cooked at all and still cold from being frozen. I took a big bite out of it and nearly threw up. That was the last time I ordered a burger at McD's, and that was over a decade ago.

Maybe Burger Kings and McDonald's have completely different pricing in different parts of the country? Cause IMO, the Whopper is the best burger/buck you can buy, whereas every single thing at McD's is ridiculous. A whopper is like twice the size of a big mac, and costs half as much. A single whopper does more towards filling me up then even the largest normal burger on McD's menu (not counting the special "angus/restaraunt/whatever" burgers that every chain seems to copy and re-invent every few months). And it costs much much less.

Not that I'm a huge fan of Burger King either, but if I'm looking at a small amount of cash and want to buy some fast food that will put the most food in my belly for the least price (and the least "yuck" factor), I'm going to BK and getting whoppers.

The Whopper is the BK answer to the Quarter Pounder. Both are a 1/4lb patty with about the same crap on them except that the Quarter Pounder has cheese as a default (unless you specifically ask otherwise, they'll assume "Quarter Pounder" means 'with cheese') and Burger King doesn't give you cheese unless you pony up an extra seventy cents or so for a slice of plasti-American singles. Point being, if the BK sandwich fills you up, it's gotta be in your head 'cause it's the same quantity of food. Or else you're being fed a crapload of discount shredded lettuce.

I can't speak for pricing over there but, around these parts, a Quarter Pounder w/ cheese is about fifty cents cheaper. A Big Mac is about twenty cents cheaper than a Quarter Pounder since it is less meat than than either the QP or Whopper.

An epic battle has begun, one that is sure to tear the very world we know and love in half...

Aren't they franchised and able to modify their pricing a bit?

Yeah, sugar. Lots of it. Very few kids will turn down anything that has sufficient amount of sugar in it.

I even know people who add sugar to cooked carrots, totally disgusting imo.

To a degree. So I can't speak for the pricing out there (although I'd find it weird to see a major shift).

The meat weight is universal though.

There was a recent study that showed that kids preferred whatever food was in the McD's containers. Don't underestimate the power of marketing (and save those containers for emergencies!).
