It's coming! My favorite holiday of the year! I cannot wait. I always have so much fun watching the little kids dress up and come to my door. I enjoy it even more when I see their faces light up when I hand them a large chocolate easter bunny. We have a Russel Stover's outlet here, I go and buy a large box of their easter bunnies a few days before Halloween to hand out. I also hand out glow bracelets with the candy. It's dark out there and I think it's nice that the parents will have something more to help locate their kids in the dark, goodness knows those little goblins are quick.

Seriously though, this time of the year is my favorite the leaves change colors, big piles of leaves to have my dog jump in. The temperature cools and the wind picks up. It's nice hot chocolate weather.

I began my October (close enough)by having my first sampling of a pumpkin ale produced by Smuttynose. Now, I'm not a connoisseur or anything, at least not yet, but it was an enjoyable drink. It smelled great. Hints of cinnamon, pumpkin, and nutmeg, were pleasant. The taste left a little to be desired. I only really picked up the pumpkin flavor at the beginning of the bottle and that was on the back end of the sip.

Next up, I'll be trying the #9 ranked pumpkin ale Imperial Pumpkin Ale.

Pumpkin Ale sounds fun.

My favorite part of halloween, as a kid, was coming home from trick or treating, always cold, weary, costume in tatters, but happy as a clam with my pillowcase full of candy.

Me and my sibs would all gather in one bedroom. Dump out all our candy on the floor, sort it, barter with it, brag about the rarely dropped full size candy bar or two we may have gotten....then pig out.

Halloween now? meh, can take it or leave it. I'm old.

What's with them Neccos people STILL hand-out at Halloween?

They sucked as a kid. They suck now. They're the most tasteless, textureless hunk of sugar ever called 'candy'.

Katie's favorite holiday is the one that involves wearing a mask and gorging yourself on candy.

Big surprise.

Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, but this year will be a little hard. I'm not sure exactly where we'll be yet for trick or treating. And I still have to figure out what Ashe is gonna be.

My daughter's boyfriend got their Halloween decorations up late this year.

Normally they would have the whole house decorated by mid September. We all dress up and party while giving out candy to those brave enough to walk pass the graves, guillotine and coffins. They added a pirate theme this year, so we won't be making the older kids knock on the large coffin to receive their treats from my daughter dress as a goth bride.

The boyfriend looks like he could be Jack Sparrow's father, when he wears his red Flock coat. All the want-a-be Jack Sparrows running around lately, look lame against him in his normal clothes.

My oldest had some Blue Moon Pumpkin ale at the wedding yesterday, which she let me taste. Wasn't to my taste but then it's made by Coors, so I wouldn't buy it anyway. I normally have an Fordham Oyster Stout or copperhead Ale.

The Cardinal Sinnius Vice though made sure his vocal cords were lubricated with some Scotch, at the start of the wedding. Only at an Renaissance Wedding, would one think to fill one's vessel of choice with Ale before the bride walks down the isle.

I need to come up with a costume that tops the last 2 years.

French Maid was shock value, mohawk punk rocker the same, need something fresh and work appropriate.

I really want to go as Buddy the Elf and just walk around yelling "SANTA!" and singing "I'm singing". Don't think it will be enough to win that vacation time though...

I think Neph would be more believable as Rainbow Brite.

I am a fan of the Holiday myself, but usually procrastinate in regards to coming up with a costume so long that I end up not bothering.

So my spirit is there, but my follow-through sucks.
