Greets, folks. Flea wanted to take a moment to check her e-mail, so I'm wasting a few minutes here. Try to be sure that you guys have some exciting shit going on by the time I return.

These Italian keyboards suck *** so this is probably about it for me posting for the time being. We're having a great time.

Also, I see that my premium expired in my absence. Damn Alla and his money-grubbing ways.

You missed all the drama yesterday. Maybe there will be more by the time you come back!

If they are rude to you again just tell them you know a guy in the corleone province... that should do the trick.

I've been bumped into, shoved, had folks cut ahead of me in line, never even apologizing, much less acknowledging it. All the polite, helpful ones are hispanic, in the clergy, or Americans/Canadians. If it's a mistaken impression overall, so be it, but it was certainly true of my time in Rome. I'm finding folks in Florence nicer.

Oh I don't disagree. Rome's the worst in my experience, but yes, Florence is a little slower. I believe the Italian for "I'm sorry" or "Excuse me" is an elbow in the chest.

Give my regards to the Duomo. (And if you're climbing the Giotto Tower, don't drink lots of beer and forget to go to the bathroom beforehand. I've never run down 400+ steps as fast in me life)

I find that glowering at people who cut in line while cracking my knuckles and making throat slitting motions is usually effective for dealing with that situation. If not, I just step on them until they move.

In Rome, I suspect you'd leave with slightly fewer ********* than you started with.

Never seen so many knives whipped out in trivial disputes.

Don't take this the wrong way Zorro, but I've watched knife-fights in dockside bars in many countries, and I would hazard that the one consistent factor in the victors was that they were slightly more lean than your good self. Smiley: wink

Marseille is the scariest. Saw a guy earn a 9" smile for saying "pardon" to a mumbling barman twice.

In Rome, there are bars where ear-lobes are standard floor-covering.

Tell you what, you watch me fence someday and make up your mind then. Just because someone isn't alightweight doesn't mean they don't know their way around a blade. /shrug.

Oh dear sweet boy.

A High-Class fencer against a hardened knife fighter would be like the guy in Raisers of the Lost Ark who does the "Swoosh Swoosh Swoosh" sword jobby and then gets shot in the face.

I'm not talking about a fight at epee length. I'm talking about fist-blades.

I'm slender with a long reach, but against the guys who are used to knives, I'd lose. So would you.

Long blade fencing isn't the only form of fencing, though that is my speciality. I'd probably prefer my k-bar if it came to a serous knife fight, but i'm fast enough with my little spring assist too. I had some very good teachers. It looked good on a resume for my prior career track. Regardless, I suppose theres really no way for you to know my skill level without evidence. I ono the other hadn don't doubt there are badass unsavory characters with knives in wharfside bars.

Sure seems that way. On a motorcycle forum I frequent, I use the same screen name, and got the same response when I related a story (true), in which I suggested a guy have his very hot girlfriend model a particularly sexy outfit for him. He replied "She's my daughter."

To which I replied, "Oh. Then have her model it for me."

He did exactly as much about it as I expect you would, face to face, in this situation. Nothing.
