So stop believing the myth that Peanut Butter and Jelly belong in the same paragraph!
PBJ? GFY!!
I don't know if it's the same way in the rest of the world, but in the US, many commercial peanut butters come pre-sweetened, making them an already semi-sweet food. Sugar is actually the second highest ingredient in Jif brand peanut butter.

MADE FROM ROASTED PEANUTS AND SUGAR. CONTAINS 2 PERCENT OR LESS OF: MOLASSES, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (SOYBEAN), FULLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS (RAPESEED AND SOYBEAN), MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES AND SALT.
Since peanut butter around here is quite sweet, mixing it with jelly is only a natural progression. And quite a delicious one at that.
And for added fun, I learned something today about peanut butter.

In 2004, University of Georgia scientists developed a peanut butter dispenser to make peanut butter sandwiches. It resembles a hand-held, bulk tape dispenser and squirts out peanut butter in sheets.[8] Using high pressure and high temperatures, it is possible to transform peanut butter into diamonds.[9][10]
