The great thing about embryonic stem cells is that they are "pluripotent", meaning they can turn into anything. In fact, they have to - since they divide to eventually generate an entire human being.
Many organs generate adult "stem" cells, which can turn into various things within the organ. They are called "multipotent" - and as the article says, that is what these are. They apparently can be "soaked" to generate cell types outside their own limited natural range of man-ball applications. I'm all for it.
However, we already have something better.
It's sad that one religious zealot is holding back the largest single source of funding and making finding alternatives necessary.
