Dude, there are less byzantine ways of letting her know you're having 2nd thoughts y'know. Banging her mother, wearing an Village People outfit or having your hair pierced.

Seriously.

The first mention of grues in the Zork games is the following ominous line:

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Further investigation will reveal more about their nature:

> what is a grue?
The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

A healthy (or unhealthy) familiarity with the Infocom line is helpful to understand the song.

When it's about Zork, it doesn't need to be.

It does need to be when you don't know what the hell a Zork is. Smiley: frown

It's English rap about a 30? year old computer game.

It's probably the best in its class. Smiley: laugh

I was able to pick out references to the Zork series, Leather Goddesses of Phobos, Suspended, Infidel, Deadline, Nord and Bert Couldn't Make Head or Tail of It, Ballyhoo and Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy. With a shout-out to the non-Infocom game, Adventure.

This is going on my resume.

All I remember from Zork is the dam. And fiddling about with matches and levers. And I had fun with it at lunch-times in High School.

There was also a trading game that I rather liked, moving cargoes around the world's ports. Loved Loderunner, finished it. Where in the world is Carmen Santiago?

Put me in the "too young to remember" category.

And I'm 28.

Taipan?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taipan!

The only infocom game I played around with was Hitchiker's guide - I also toyed with Zork Zero a bit. I also played Adventure.

The one I played most was the Ultima series. A bit of Bard's Tale, a bit of Might and Magic (I and II), lots of Pirates! (the original, I love Sid Meier's Pirates (the recent one), too.)

Which one(s)? The original was a bit like Bard's Tale, but with a much bigger world. My favorites were the Ultima series.

I don't think I know what the Ultima series is, or was.
