Karma calculation depends on number of ratings, not number of posts
But, as I recall, you rate yourself with your existing karma each time you post. So when I post, I automatically rate myself 4.76 (I assume it's still around there), right? I thought Illia put that in to help stabilize ratings.

So, if I'm right, that would be an example of number of posts affecting your rating. My karma is pretty stable because I've self-rated myself as a guru some 30,000 times.

Illia wants you to rate camp everyone

While looking for documentation backing up my self-rating thingie above, I came across the following quote from the early days of the new forums...
Illia wrote:
The ultimate goal is to have most users between 1.5 and 3.0

A smaller set but maybe 15% at 3.0 to 3.75 (Scholar)
A very small subset at 3.75 to 4.25 - (Sage)
Very rarely, Guru's will pop up. (4.25)

While the system settles down, the values are fluctuating, I'm waiting to see as they settle.
Get on it and make the bulk of the users sub-scholar! Smiley: laugh

Wow. Ilia's pretty thin-skinned if that's all it took. Just the one post?

No, there were a couple. Maybe a few. Possibly legions.

The one about not getting the promised prize was pretty good, though.

There has been more than one post, some with relatively polite responses. I get very irritable with spam in forum=3. I was really tempted to hit the "erase all posts" button; but I figured that'd be more work for me to properly back up and undo when politely asked to so instead I reset a field. I had been in the middle of discovering that my forum test system was not properly isolated from production; the changes I was making to stop the linking of .scr files were breaking live too.

Regarding the prize thing, etc: I have no idea. If such a problem really exists, please email Allakhazam.

Neph can have his/her/it's post count back, if he/she/it cares to. I'll even take out the code I put in hardcoding a maxpost count of 42 for him/her/it.

How about Shimit for an indefinite pronoun? Or just Shit for short.

So wait a tic...the feedback forum isn't for feedback?

Having a perpetual 42 post count exalts my status to somewhere between "Godlike" and "Legend".

But please, please restore my manhood. I'm awfully sorry I took time away from picking out the PotBS template colors.
