If the two elected guys had been Republicans, do you think the response would have been the same?
Absolutely. In fact, I often skip posting articles about minor level events like that specifically because no one gives a rat's *** outside of that politicians immediate sphere.

Hell, Illinois recently put away a former Republican governor for corruption. I've mentioned it once or twice here but no one's ran with it because, well, they don't live in Illinois. State level politics don't really resonate on the forums. You honestly think we'd go bonkers because some Republican councilmen and school board members seven thousand miles away took bribes?

Your New Post link broken or something?

I absolutely guarantee you that I've started more threads critical of Democrats than you have of Republicans. Be it by raw numbers or by percentage of topics started.

Sometimes, the absence of talking about something speaks volumes...

The only reason this made the national news is that there were 11 arrests, and it was New Jersey. I didn't even look for a party affiliation until you brought it up. When I did look, it was only mentioned for two of the eleven.

My reaction was the same as when I read about a drug bust that nets a lot of arrests. "Oh, huh, good for them." And then I turn the page.

Now, if any of these guys were nationally known, particularly if he were known for his anti-corruption ways, there'd be more of an interesting angle and I'd take time out of my busy schedule to make fun of his hypocrisy. As it turns out, they were just run-of-the mill scumbags in a state I have no desire to ever visit.

In other corruption news, it seems that my Republican Congressman is involved in shady land-deals in Nicaragua, having not only completely misreported the extent and value of his holdings but also having pushed hard for CAFTA... legislation which increased the value of his secret properties. He's also had a long-standing conflict of interest serving on the House International Relations Committee in the Latin American subcommittee despite being married to a Guatemalan Congress member (who happens to be floor leader of the Guatemalan Republican Front) and having a brother-in-law who was the Guatemalan army chief of staff until 2003. That last bit isn't really news although I'm surprised it's been allowed to continue.

So, tell me, should I worry more about this or about the school board member in Jersey who was arrested for taking bribes?

What a surprise none of the whacked out libs mentioning that the chi-coms have been financing the Democrats for close to 15yrs now.

I guess if we just ignore Hsu it will go away.
