North Korea 'to end nuclear work'

Breaking news

North Korea has agreed to declare and disable all its nuclear facilities by the end of this year, the US negotiator at talks with Pyongyang has said.

Christopher Hill said details of the deal would be discussed at six-party talks in China, later in September.

North Korea tested a nuclear device last year, but has since agreed in principle to shut down its programme in return for economic and other aid.

It has already shut down its main nuclear reactor at Yongbyon.

now the real question, do we believe them?

I'll worry about getting my hopes up when N. Korea opens itself fully and unconditionally for inspections. Until then, I'll assume that they're quietly moving ahead.

N Korea is 100% broke for the last decade, i wouldnt know where theyd get the money to invest in a massive cash sinkhole as a nuclear programme.
Its basicly a 3rd world country with a 2nd world legacy.

They probably didnt have a decent nuclear program in the first place not enough to take it anywhere, they only used it as leverage to get more aid money.

Even so they'll just hide it all from inspectors in the hopes of instigating an invasion.

Didn't you hear?

Starcraft 2 is about to be released... That will means billions for the Koreans in terms of tournament cash prizes.

The Americans think they're so smart, when in fact they're financing the Korean nuclear program.

When North Korea finally wins, we'll all be able to enjoy their wondrous patriotic music! Not like our decadent, imperialist, American Rock N' Roll!

Yep, and we'll not find all the nukes we're sure they have, and since they can never prove they're not there, we'll have a good reason to invade and take out their mean nasty leader.

Meh. The last time or two N. Korea swore to be ending its programs, it was quietly removing fuel from its reactors and refining it. A lack of complete inspections marked each incident as well since N. Korea refused to fully cooperate.

Invading N. Korea would be a mistake large enough to make Iraq seem like a good idea. But I can't support normalizing relations with N. Korea until they make some good faith efforts to open themselves up.

Although I agree with this, I just somehow can't see Kim saying "Welcome to our humble abode. Feel free to look around."
