Shouldn't there be a "paste" option on this poll?

Too soon?

It's time to put up a memorial and move on.

Were the three rescuers' bodies recovered?

They are dead, have to be at this point. Unless they started to feast off the flesh of each other, and figured out a way to cook it without fire and perserve it...yeah, they are gone.

No, just no. Not everything in this country needs a memorial. Digging coal for 40K a year just so I can have electricity to ***** about the fact Coal Miners don't need a memorial, doesn't make them my hero or anyone elses.

How about some flowers? Can't the widows just get some flowers and call it a day?

Bonus points for the IT reference. Arguably King's greatest work.

I read 1 Stephen King book a year. The Shining, The Stand, It and I just finished 'Salem's Lot. Tommyknockers is sitting on my shelf mocking me to read it but book one in the discworld series needs to be read, then Anansi Boys by Gaiman (did I mention I have read like ALOT of books since my girlfriend dumped me and I unhooked the tv?)

IT was definitely the creepiest, except it fell apart in the final act.

What, the gang bang at the end didn't make it creepier?

They're dead. They died in the first cave-in. I talked to one of the rescuers personally.

Do yourself a favor, Bodhi, and skip The Tommyknockers. Seriously. Try Firestarter. Or Insomnia, even. The Tommyknockers blew. Hard.

Oh, they have to be dead, I'd say.

I hope they didn't survive the original cave-in and suffer for a long time. This story just gets to me for some reason. It's all so sad. Miners trapped and probably dead, rescuers die trying to save them, families have to come to grips with the fact that their loved ones will likely be entombed there. Hell, I even felt bad for Robert Murray when he was interviewed on NPR. Life sucks, sometimes.

Dead. And hopefully, they have been for awhile. As for Stephen King, Insomnia was probably one of my favorite books. I've read that book so many times. It's been a few years. I should really read it again.

Dead. As long as we aren't spending government money trying to drill a 17th hole, let them do whatever they want. Just tell the mdeia to move on.

Damn Chinese show us up again.

Quote:
Two brothers have crawled to safety after being trapped for nearly six days in a Chinese coal mine, state media said today.

Rescuers and their family had given them up for dead after 130 hours underground after a tunnel collapsed, the China Daily said.

Brothers Meng Xianchen and Meng Xianyou were trapped while working at an illegal mine in Beijing's Fangshan District late on Saturday August 18. Two days later, rescue efforts were called off.

"The miners' families were in despair, burning 'ghost money' for the deceased at the entrance of the mine," the China Daily said.

"The only people who didn't give up were the miners themselves" who started building a tunnel towards the entrance.

Maybe we should make a rule that you get 48 hours and then you're on your own. Seems to work for them. Smiley: laugh

Hell, I even felt bad for Robert Murray when he was interviewed on NPR.

Why do you think he agreed to be interviewed?

He's the worst sort of lying greedy ******* willing to trade other people's safety for personal gain. I feel sorry he wasn't in the mine. Wait, what am I saying, he's not going to go in a mine. That would be unsafe.

Well. I don't know if it was just a media goof up (bad math or something), but I do recall being a bit shocked by some of the numbers tossed around by a reporter in the midst of the flurry about a week and a half ago.

The same reporter, in the same report segment, said the following two bits:

1. That a survivor they'd interviewed had been working with the men, but had walked back to the truck and the tunnel collapsed right behind him. He stated that his truck was 1/4 of a mile from where they'd been working.

2. The section of tunnel that collapsed extended 2000 feet.

Do the math. It's not hard...
