I strongly encourage the 360 and PC owners of the board to pick this game up. I've been sorely disappointed with the vast majority of games and this was such a nice change of pace. The storyline is so engrossing and the visuals are just amazing. The gameplay is very open in terms of combat, there is nothing that compares to using Telekinesis to pick up a garbage can or corpse and hurling it at the enemy. Close second is you lighting up a Splicer and watching him writhe in pain as he burns to a crisp.

The greatest part is still the storyline, I can't recall any game ever having such a gripping tale.

Buy.

Already on hubby's want list. Guess I'm picking it up now since it now has the Neph-brand of approval.

I played it as well, and I agree with Nephthy that it is great, and definately one of the best games that the XBOX360 has currently out for it.

At the very least, it'll hold me over until Blue Dragon comes out in awhile...

I played the demo on my buddy's Xbox. It looked fantastic. However, he misinformed me that the PC version didn't come out till next month. I guess I'll have to run out and grab it this weekend.

... Damn you. I'd buy it, if it wasn't for my Xbox going fubar, and Microsoft's Jimbot 3.0 avoiding the problem completely, and telling me about the fans inside the console.

Anyone wanna go strangle Bill Gates with me?

From what I hear it's a great game, and you guys are just making me want to buy it even more! Too bad I have no money.

Just picked it up on the way home from work. I'll play it tonight and comment on it soon. From what I hear, it's pretty kick-***. If more X-Box 360 games are as awesome as this and Gears of War, then I'll be a happy camper.

My rig might not be able to handle that. P4 3.0Ghz, 2GB, 256mb ATI x1300, SB Audigy. Near the bottom of the minimum specs.

I'm waiting for Gamefly to send it. As awesome as this game looks and is reviewed there seem to be 2 things keeping me from buying it.

1) No Multiplayer.
2) Therefore, reduced replay value.

So I'll rent it from Gamefly and decide if I wanna keep it or not.

Pretty great atmosphere and story so far - not very far into it but I'm digging it. Hacking is a fun mini-game, too. Thanks for the nice recommendation, Neph. Smiley: waycool

I bought it on PC and i love it, havent had so much fun with a "story shooter" since HL1.
Its produces very pretty pictures also, the first time i melted ice i peed my pants with joy. (directx 10 is amazing, a real step forward again, cant wait until other UNreal 3 engine games are released)

The enemys are varied and somewhat intelligent and cooperating (1 runs other takes pot shots) taking down Big Daddys requires planning and use of the room. And its all very immersive, I dont have the heart to harvest the Little Sisters, is that well done :)
The atmosphere is very Fallout-esque, when you get new powers it emphasizes that.
I love the whole 30's, jazz, art deco era though, i think its the "coolest" decade of mankind.

Tip: If youre used to shooters play on hard, i played on normal and after exploring everything in one night of play (4 hours) i was halfway.
There is no death penalty anyway.

Hmm, I'm heading to Bestbuy this afternoon to pick up something for my son's b-day (which was last week). He's 19 now.

He'd like this game, yes?

I picked it up a couple nights ago, but the storms that came through our area on Wednesday night knocked out the power. 36 hours so far with no power and now they're saying we might not get power back on until Monday. Smiley: mad

I want to play! Smiley: banghead

I was so going to get this game. Lately my Guitar Hero 2 game has been locking up. Finally this morning I received the "red lights of doom" and now I have to ship it off. I just hope I get the fucking thing back before Guitar Hero 3 is out. Smiley: motz

At least Metroid comes out on Monday. Smiley: grin

Agreed. Before I knew it, it was 1:45am - always a good sign that it's a great game.

Smiley: lol Actually, I don't really find it all that scary. Definitely creepy though! It doesn't help when my 64-pound Basset Hound leaps onto my lap while trying to fight off a horde of enemies! I guess I'm too busy marveling the game design, atmosphere, and music to get too freaked out.

Probably the most disturbing thing in the game is when you try to cure/save/whatever one of the little sisters. It's got a creepy bad-touch vibe all over it. Amiright, Neph? Smiley: sly

I'm playing it, about halfway through now. It is a good game, but perhaps not quite up to the level of the Systemshocks before it. Still, all-in-all, a terific game.

I loved the game, it rocks to the extreme. However, my main complaint is that although the story kicks ***, It felt a little patched together to me. Not in the sense that they through a handful of stories together, but that the setting and the story don't flow well to me. I can't really explain it, meh.

Yea my two German shepherds do the same thing. Except they are 100+lbs a piece.

Big Daddys require the planning til ya get incinerary(sp?) bolts. The flaming bolts take out massive chunks of a big daddy's health, and if you can get, I think its 6 or 7, off before ya die the Dig Daddy is dead.
