Ok so I have two drafts. One tonight after work and one tomorrow evening. In both leagues I'm sitting at number four. Also in both leagues we draft from one to twelve then twelve back to one.

Figure that Tomlinson, Steven Jackson, and Larry Johnson will all be gone. Both leagues' point systems are catered more towards running backs. So who do you take witht he fourth pick?

I'm heavily leaning towards Frank Gore. But both Jospeh Addai and Willie Parker are still in the running. So give some input ********

Unfortunately we didn't implement the rule where if you're player is indicted you get 20 points per game he misses.

Last year, I grabbed Peyton with the number 1 pick. Once you get past the first 3 RB's, the next group is all kinda even, but Peyton will stand out above the rest (maybe not Brady this year if Moss and Stallworth pan out). Grab a no.1 from another position and get your RB on the way back. I also won my league with the best record in head-to-head, points and flat out dominated everyone in all of the playoffs. Of course, some of my other gambles paid off too, so it wasn't all Peyton winning for me.

In your spot, with those guys off the board, I'd go for Shaun Alexander or even Peyton before either Addai or Parker. And I don't really like Gore this year, purely just a hunch, but whatever.

I probably won't take a quarterback until the sixth or seventh round. I'm going to aim for Jon Kitna or possibly Hasselbeck. Once Palmer and Manning are gone there is a huge drop off in talent. I'm fairly sure it's going to be Gore.

My league is auto-draft, but we rank the players - so it goes after the last preseason game ends, thus I haven't really been watching yet.

However, I don't like Larry Johnson's chances of surviving the season. Further, in the AFC West, the only team's defense I would actually want to run against is KC, and that's who LJ plays for. Six games of utter misery incoming.

I'd lean towards Addai. With that other guy gone to Oakland, unless they have some short yardage back, he's going to score. A lot. And catch passes.

I like Parker because traditionally Pit is a running team. Dunno about the new head coach. Further, historically they use many backs, each in specialized situations. I'd shy away from him because of the uncertainty, but if you know Parker is their guy and they are going to run like they did in the past, he could outperform Addai.

I like Gore because he plays in the weakest division in football and he piled up yards last season. He seems to be their clear number one guy. However, he fumbles too much for my tastes and I'm not sure the 49ers will really be that good.

Lots of teams are going to use two backs, heavily, this year. I can see a strategy of, say, taking both guys from the Saints (Deuce and Bush) - under the assumption that if one of them doesn't score, the other will (particularly if you are in a large 14+ team) league. I like that combo because they throw to the back and thus Deuce could be the leading rusher and Bush still could do well as a receiver.

Or Jones/Barber in Dallas - if you think you can get those guys in rounds 2 and 3, that means you can go for Peyton in round one. He's more of a sure thing. Even if the Colts are down this year, that likely means they are going to throw more.

I don't know how long your draft goes, or how many teams in the leagues, but if in the late, late rounds you want a player no one has heard of, you could do worse then Cleo Lemon. He should beat out Trent Green in the battle of quarterbacks the San Diego Chargers rejected.

There is no way I will take a quarterback in the first round. Ever. Our leagues are set up so that running backs get the largest amount of points. The point system is 1 point for every 10 yards rushing, 1 for every 15 receiving, and 1 for every 25 yards of passing.

So with that kind of structure it is a must that you get one number one running back in the first round. The Barber/Jones situation in Dallas is one I would avoid until later rounds to be honest. And there's no way I would handicap myself by starting two running backs that are splitting time with each other. That's like hamstringing yourself before the game even starts Smiley: glare

Brian Westbrook was a monster last season even without McNabb.

And if your league awards points for receptions: Get him.

btw, you actually going to joing my league or what? I sent you the invite like, 2 weeks ago.

If you can get a running back with good hands he's money. I lucked out and got Steven Jackson in like the 3rd round last year. He got the most points for me of anyone else on my team.

You do realize that passing yards are easier to get than rushing yards? Picking a Manning or Palmer 4th is not a bad pick at all.

Well in one draft I took Frank Gore fourth overall. The draft I had tonight the girl in the third slot took Peyton Manning. So Larry Johnson fell into my lap. No complaints from me on that one Smiley: lol

I can top that. I just got done drafting in the second slot, and the top pick was Manning.

LT dropped into my lap like a coked up hooker.

In most leagues your first round (if not first two rounds) should be running backs. As you already mentioned it's pretty much Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, and Steven Jackson for the first 3 picks. The 4th pick is a pretty crappy position to be in, but Frank Gore wouldn't be a bad choice. I also like Shawn Alexander and Brian Westbrook. Maroney and Addai too, but I would rather the aforementioned backs. Of course, you most likely wont see any of these players on the way back so pick whoever you like more.

There are plenty of good quarter backs and not nearly as many good backs (fantasy wise) so, unless your like the 7 or later pick I'd avoid Manning and Palmer as you will have two average backs.

I would probably go with Gore because of Westbrook's durability issues.
