I went to a wedding reception this weekend, and a few weeks ago I had bought a shirt for the occasion. (I didn't end up wearing it but thats besides the point.) This shirt was white and the fabric was quite see through, so I decided I needed a camisole if I were going to wear it in public.

Now, I'm not a bra fan. I really dont have enough that you could define as needing a lot of support anyways. If I can get away with it, I tend to go braless. The most I need a bra for is I am constantly, ahh, perky. And I have never owned a camisole until last week. I bought a cute white camisole, made entirely of lace. The lace part made me wary, as usually lace can itch. But when I tried it on, it was the most comfortable thing I have ever worn, not to mention insanely sexy! I felt like a goddess in this thing. And I had quite the approval of the Mr.

So ladiez, can camisoles replace bras? Do you guys wear them, and if so any you recomend? Im looking for some that do have a slight sports bra built in, like my lace camisole does, but I'm up for anything. All I ask is comfortability, and a touch of sexiness added in. I'm seriously thinking of revamping my wardrobe to buy a whole bunch of these things and then have a bra burning party. I've got the emphatic approval of the Mr for this.

This thread sucks without pics.

My girl wears strapless dresses that have the built-in-sports-bra-thingy and they seem to be quite effective. She's in the same category of 'not quite buxom' but still enough to go around so I imagine any girl with a solid C or less should have no problems. Do you even own any dresses? You should get on that, we all know how girlie you are.

All dresses I own are for formal occasions, like weddings and funerals. I've got a few casual skirts, but really, give me a tank top and capris, or camo pants and I'm a happy DSD.

I wear camisoles far more often than bras, especially to work. I tend to wear a lot of dress shirts at work, that would need something under them anyway, so I double up with the shelf-bra camisoles. I usually buy five or so at a time at Target, but they sell them at walmart and such also. At Target I usually get them around $7 a piece, and probably own about 5 white ones that I usually wear under dress shirts. I wear the darker ones with shorts and whatnot as tank tops with bras built right in!

I actually fell in love with them when I was pregnant and then breast feeding. The maternity camisoles/tanktops were super comfy, and then when I was breastfeeding, it was way easier to just pull the top of the camisole down than to mess about with those horrible breastfeeding bras with the clips and whatnot.

I love it that in the summer, there are tons of attractive women walking around wearing only these types of camisoles for a top.

My last manager at work used to wear camisole-type tops, but they weren't the ones with built-in support, so she did have a little... visible perkiness going on. I finally said something to her, since she obviously didn't realize it.

Yeah, I wear something like that, but with the built in bra part. I've *never* been able to get away with the bra-less look.

This is what I was talking about...and I also like the printed ones to just wear by themselves.

Geesh...this thread reeks of a poll.

How much FEMALE nipple action is acceptable in public?
None, there should be NO discernable 'point' no matter how cold it is.:3 (6.7%)
Some slight hint of nipples is ok if a cool breeze blows through.:7 (15.6%)
Nipples are our gift the world, display them proudly beneath any type of top thick or thin, tight or loose.:15 (33.3%)
Excepting in establishments requiring 'Shirts and Shoes' topless women are perfectly fine by me.:20 (44.4%)
Other...but why?:0 (%)
Total:45

That's pretty much what I do. Victoria's Secrets has some really good camis also.

If I have a sheer shirt, I'll wear a good solid bra under the shirt. No patterns on the bra, no lace, just a solid white or black half-cup bra, depending on the shirt's color. I usually wear a good skirt and nice heels with that.

In Canada and Europe you can just go topless. I think it's better for everyone to do so.

I decided to head out to Target and Khols and see if they had anything I liked. I picked up 2 black, 1 white, and 1 pink cami. That's a nice beginning. I figure every once in awhile I'll go treat myself and the Mr to some Victorias camis. The moment I got home, I threw my black silk cami on and I'm now in heaven. Why, oh why did it take me 28 years to find out about these wonderful things? I'm gonna toss all but 2 bras out, and live in luxury.

Next up, new panties.

I'm thinkin' it's time for there to be some nicely colored, perhaps even flowered boxers for women. Ones that aren't considered simply pj bottums.

Now that I know there are some kind of lace undergarments that are actually comfy, I'm personally thinking of looking for some shortlike panties in lace. Can't do thongs, lord knows I have tried! I like bikinis, but I'd like to change up my style once in awhile.

Alas not for me. When I went to the lingerie store to get my nursing bra, the garment I walked out with was a 38G. Really sucks because what I want worse than anything in the world right now is a nursing tank top, but they only fit up to D cup.

It's not quite as huge as it sounds. At high-end specialty lingerie shops like the one I went to, the intervals between cup sizes are smaller to insure a better fit. In "common" cup sizes, I'm probably be closer to a DDD.

Strangely, I've experienced neither engorgement nor copious leakage (a couple drops here and there is all). It's not as wonderful as one would assume--I spent weeks worrying about my milk supply because I wasn't having these experiences everyone tells you to expect.

Are you at home with the kiddo or pumping at work on your break schedule? Makes quite the difference, haha.

Being an overly-empathetic emotional nut-job, I also had the problem of suddenly leaking when out in public somewhere and hearing some other baby crying.

I know, too much information, but that's what you risk when reading about women's underwear boys...take the good with the bad.
