I stayed a night at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. It was my prom night, in my hometown and it was magical. I can still remember the panties she wore.

For years afterward we'd return and walk around the lake or, rarely, have brunch for two hundred bucks.

It's not a hotel, but there is no where on Earth I'd rather be then here.

A far cry from a castle, or in the heart of Paris, the two that stand out the most to me were:
The Langham Hotel in the heart of Boston, which I had the pleasure of staying last month and Hotel Providence in RI. We had a 3 room suite and I am fortunate to stay there again tomorrow night after I attend a wedding reception. Amid the feather soft quilts, and luxurious black marble and gold bathrooms, my favorite thing about this place is their to die for coffee and croissants in the morning.

The Langham is nice, but apparently, you're not supposed to have food-fights in the restaurant or **** in the lobby.

Too picky

The hotel Imaelia and I stayed at for our wedding night, the Hotel Monico in DC. Awesome jacuzzi huge tub thing was a plus, the fire alarms going off right before we were going to 'go to bed', not so great, but hey, gives us a story, right?

for the amount of money you spend to stay there I would hope you could do those things and more and they should continue to keep that plastered smile on their faces.

Although I did notice "looks" when I went out for a smoke, slightly tipsy and wearing heels for the first time. Tipsy and unaccustomed to 3.5" heels= the look of pure drunk.

I work here. The #1 ranked hotel on Tripadvisor for the city of Boston for over a year now. We've also got the #1 Hotel bar in the city, according to the Improper Bostonaian, so that place is pretty hoppin' as well.

Rates are pretty high, even for Boston. But most of our guests are either Irish tourists (Jurys being an Irish Hotel chain) or the "Business Class" of back bay (John Hancock, Merril Lynch, NetIxis, et al.)

The hotel used to be the Boston Police Headquarters so it's got a fairly "rich" history. And the lobby design is pretty unique with a waterfall, a staircase the changes colors, and multiple fire places.

In short, fuck the Langham. Smiley: grin

I stayed here because it made me feel all like Juliette Binoche in the Unbearable Lightness of Being. And no, not like the character in the book because that was a totally different Spa that Kundera referenced.

This one for encouraging me to feel like the British Empire left something useful in India (other than beaurocracy and cricket). Service like you wouldn't believe. Sitting around in comfy chairs checkin out the Bollywood stars is a fine way of spending an afternoon.

This one in Singapore for similar reasons. Singapore Slings in the courtyard 'cos Kipling says so......Smiley: glasses

And this one in New Zealand 'cos I'm a hippy, and we got the most beautiful country in the world, bar none.

Honourable mention to this place in Rajastan, India. Probably the most romantic hotel in the world.

On the Sea, aboard the Beausoleil. The bathroom facilities were quite cramped, but the beds surprisingly plush and soft. Nothing sweeter then being rocked to sleep by the ocean...like a babe in a cradle.

In no particular order:

Fontainebleu, the fucking best place to stay in Miami Beach, besides all those kitschy ArtDeco boutique motels, but they are renovating so I would wait until 2008 or so.

Mauna Lani. One of the places my wife and I honeymooned at, it was excellent.

The Westin Key West Resort Not far from Duval St., Sloppy Joe's and Hemingway's house which smells like cat ****,when you get there you will see why.

Gold Lake. Small cabins no TV/Internets, very rustic and excellent cuisine. A lot of nudity by the out door springs/hotubs near the lake.

And this place , which means I'm going to be going to this,Cheltenham Gold Cup, every couple of "two-tree" years, to see the world's greatest horseracing.

I second Mauna Lani, we used to stay there a lot when I was younger and it's a really great hotel. Plus, when you're a kid, a hotel that has a tram gets mega bonus points.

the atlantis resort on paridise island at nassau.

i promise you, none of you have stayed in better, i dont care where you come from. expensive, but well worth every penny. they even have a suite that is booked 24/7 that costs 15,000 grand a night with a 5 night minimum. comes with your own buttler, chef, limo and access to the helo pad.

average room costs, 250 to 500 a night plus 100 bucks per person per day for the food package. you WANT to buy the food package. 100 bucks will seem cheap after you pay 17 bucks for the hamburger and another 4 bucks if you want fries. what? a drink? 4 bucks for a soda. the average costs for the dinner, all 5 start resturants, and many to choose from, is around 100 bucks per person. the food package covers it all.

absolutly stunning. no one has ever built anything better any where.

The Hotel Westbury in Dublin. I was sick as a dog at the time, and the hotel staff really went above and beyond to see that I was comfortable and well medicated.

The best hotel I've ever stayed in... I remember it was pretty big, nicely kept, had computers (It was a while ago...) and the pool room was amazing. I thought all the pools were connected, because the water was an inch deep all over the room. I thought it was the coolest thing. Then my mom ruined everything. She told the lady at the front desk who panicked because apparently the room was flooding, and it wasn't supposed to be really cool. I got sad.

The Peninsula in Hong Kong, followed closely by The Sanno in Tokyo, followed the Fountainblue in Germany. Three 5 stars, all uniquely different.

I generally prefer smaller, bed and breakfast type establishments. A favorite is this one, in Somerset, UK. The guy who was running the place was a little frantic, but nice enough.

I've also stayed at a lovely Holiday Inn Express ;)

Hey Redjed

The 1st link in my OP is less than an hour from Cheltenham Racecourse, and makes BestWestern look like a doss-house. Not much more expensive either.

If you're taking a 'special lady', there's nowhere like it. 400 year old 4-poster beds, Mediaeval Banquets by candle-light. Excellent food, sumptuous surroundings (a stroll across the drawbridge and around the Tudor Garden by moonlight is as romantic as you can get).

Possibly the most memorable stay I've ever had. (But I was in the company of hawtness)

sigh

Whatever. You'd think for that price they could at least get some new beds or something...geeesh.

Well said sir.

I've stayed in £15 a night B&B's overlooking Scottish Lochs that provided greater pleasure and memories than any of the 5 star swish places I've experienced.

I can't say for sure any that excelled, but this fall for the Honeymoon we're staying at one of the old Medici homes. I'm looking forward to that.
