If you all remember awhile back, there was a New Zealand couple who tried to name their son 4real, but was told no, due to having a # in the name. So instead, they came up with a new one:

Quote:
A couple has got over the disappointment of having their choice of 4Real as the name for their baby son turned down by calling him Superman instead.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton were told by the government registry in New Zealand they could not register the name because it included a digit.

Mr Wheaton said he came up with the unlikely moniker after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realising their baby was "for real".

However, the family has refused to let the law or good taste get in the way of their choice, insisting they will continue to refer to their two-month-old son as 4Real.

In the meantime they plan to officially name him Superman.

"No matter what, its going to stay 4Real," Mr Wheaton told the New Zealand Herald newspaper, "I'm certainly not a quitter".

He said criticism of the couple posted on the internet regarding their choice of name had been difficult to handle.

"I did go online and Google some of the stories and as tough as I am, it does get to you, but there's no point getting upset," he said.

"It could be a 10-year-old school girl making those comments."

A spokesman for the Department of Internal Affairs, which operates the registry, told the newspaper discussions with the Wheatons about their son's name were continuing.

The oddity is that there would be less potential of him being a nerd if they had named him Clark.

I read this as Sheena Easton.

And then it began...

Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

I'll have to go with that then. Personally, if I'm going to expend imagination on Ms. Easton, it shall be in the form of "Strut".

My head couldn't conjure up with single Sheena Easton tune. Probably for the best.

How do you know they hate their baby?

Heck, in a couple decades the number 1 girls name might be 2gether.

Hey if 4Real hooked up with 2gether and they had a baby it could be 6pack.

...or they could name their boy Sue.

My cousin is a moran.

His name is Chad Justin, so when he had a kid he decided he wanted it to go by his initials, CJ. Well, instead of thinking of a first and middle name starting with "C" and "J", respectively, he went the unexpected route and named the kid phoenetically.

Thus Seejay Junior [last name withheld] was born.

You mean the hokey-pokey.

He puts his left nut in. He takes his left nut out. He puts his left nut in and he shakes it all about.

I was at University with a guy who had legally changed his name to 643.7

A co-worker's former boss had a mid-life crisis and changed his name to 'Lazarus Cool'

The moral of this story?

My generation changed their names to dumb [small]S[/small]hit, but in 20 years time, kids will be changing their names to things like "Norman" and "Edward" as a form of rebellion.

[small]When the former Mrs Nobby was pregnant with the n0blet, 3 year old Dracoid wanted to call the baby either "Stripey" or "Spiderman"[/small]

My kid's named after my wife's EverQuest character...just kidding. She's named after a zone in World of Warcraft...well, not really. But both come close to the truth.

She has a name which would not be out of place in Lord of the Rings, except that someone with the background my surname would indicate (a working class name, think Smith or Green) wouldn't have such an elaborate first name.

I once joked with a friend of mine that he should give his babies the middle names of 1.0, 2.0 and so on. He was considering it.

One of my friends named his first born son after two FFXI characters. The first name was after a guy's character on the Seraph server. He was shot and killed during a home invasion while he was playing the game. Middle name was after my friend's character. Thankfully the names aren't so out there that this kid can grow up without too much embarrassment.
