Why Massachusetts Needs The Death PenaltyFollow

#1 Aug 07 2007 at 4:33 PM Rating: Default
this is truly disgusting

A reputed drug addict charged with murdering his 7-year-old cousin begged Quincy and Weymouth cops to kill him right before they found Joanna Mullin’s bruised and battered body in the back seat of a stolen SUV he’d just crashed, a police source told the Herald.

“Just kill me, just kill me. It’s over, it’s over,” Ryan Bois, 20, bellowed yesterday morning after colliding with a cab at Quincy Avenue and East Howard Street near the Quincy Shipyard, the source said. Bois brandished a knife at the cops, police say, and he was bitten by a Weymouth police dog while he was being subdued.

Bois, a 2004 graduate of Weymouth High School, was arrested yesterday in the murder of young Joanna Mullin. He was led into Quincy District Court this morning in shackles and cuffs dressed in a hospital gown. He is expected to be arraigned sometime today.

While doing an interior sweep of Bois’ vehicle early yesterday morning, the source said horrified police found the little girl’s body swaddled in bedding.

Norfolk District Attorney William R. Keating said, “The evidence is clear that (there) was trauma, and it’s clear that it’s a homicide.”

The Herald reported yesterday that Bois took the child from their 64-year-old grandmother Arlene White’s home on Randall Avenue in East Weymouth, where the little girl was sleeping over.

Investigators found an aluminum ladder perched against the side of the house, leading to an open window on the second story.

At the Mullin home yesterday, Joanna’s uncle fought back tears.

“We’re still coming to terms with what’s happened, and we’d just like to be left alone to grieve in private at this time,” the uncle said, his lip quivering.

It was unclear yesterday where and how Joanna was killed. An autopsy is scheduled for today, while Bois will be arraigned in Quincy District Court for murder.

Joanna is the oldest child of plumber Jerome and Heather Mullin of Weymouth. She also leaves two brothers, aged 1 and 4, according to Maureen Tofani, who is Bois’ mother and Heather Mullin’s sister.

“I’m devastated, completely devasted,” Tofani, 42, of Framingham, told the Herald yesterday.

Tofani said her son has long struggled with addiction, and when she could no longer deal with him, her sister Heather Mullin took Bois in. He was recently released from rehab for a heroin habit, Tofani said. A police source said Bois was known to have drug problems.

“I could see him hurting himself,” Tofani said, “but not (the Mullins’) kids. He was really close to those kids.”

Tofani last spoke with her son Saturday, but said nothing in their conversation or his demeanor prepared her for the tragedy.

“He was in a good mood. He was bubbly,” she said. “He called me every day. I left him with the same message I always leave him with: ‘Ryan, just stay away from drugs, stay away from drinking and get a job.’

“You can only do so much for them,” she said, “but the drugs and the drinking just ruined him. He’d say, ‘I’m a loser,’ but he chose to be a punk.”

White’s neighbor, Linda Raneri, said Bois had a drug problem and was kicked out of his grandmother’s home last year after police executed a warrant there.

Neighbor Dan Cuerves told the Herald that White was asleep on her sun porch at the time Bois is suspected of breaking in. He said it was White’s Ford Explorer Bois allegedly used as his getaway car.

Bois was arrested last September on charges of robbing a convenience store, while claiming he had a gun. The disposition of that case was unclear yesterday. In 2005, he was charged with threatening to kill a man he robbed of $70 and cigarettes, charges that were later dismissed.

or try this for local coverage.

This is seriously sick. This girl was murdered one street over from me. She went to the same school as my son. Although they were in different grades, they went to the after school program together. He is upset and I will likely take him to a grief consular that the school system is offering.

As for my statement for the death penalty, this idiot does not deserve to live. I am not debating whether the death penalty is a deterent, I am just saying this clown, who murdered and raped his own 6 year old cousin deserves to DIE.

I'm cool with killing anyone as long as it makes you and your kiddo feel better, Shadomen.

As horrible as this is, I laughed at the picture of him spitting at reporters while being dragged into court. It is alleged that he has Hepatitis C, and now all those reporters have to go get shots.

And I agrea with Shadomen, he's a sick fuck.

But he'll only get life, this is Mass. after all.

Anybody who insists that a murderer get the death sentence as his punishment, is a total hypocrite.
" Hey, hey. This guy killed a man, thats so immoral and wrong! Lets kill him!"

I understand that this person committed an unforgivable crime, and even he realizes that as hes saying “Just kill me, just kill me. It’s over, it’s over,”. Hes going to plead guilty and be in jail for the rest of his life.

Would you rather not have the person suffer for the rest of their life because of lethal injection or whatever they have, or have him rot away in a jail cell for how ever long his body decides to keep him alive.

So killing a guy, lethal injection or whatever quick death method is used, is hypocritical but purposely having them suffer isn't? Your an sick cnut.

I'm glad I'm not in charge of this stuff, I'd probably bring back the chair and would be frying people left and right.

Besides, who wants to be someone's punk for the rest of their life anyway.

I saw no mention of rape...conjecture on your part?

I also am a proponent of the death penalty for Massachusetts, but for their drivers, who are mind-bogglingly stupid on the road.

As a back woods person once told me, "Some people just need shootin.". It's true. Anyone who harms a child should be strung up! The world is better off without him and our tax dollars could go to much better programs than over crowded prisons.

If I lived in Florida I probably would be.

Back to the OP - this person comes across as a devout Schizophrene. I doubt any public defender would allow him to plead guilty. Ten bucks says he'll plead not guilty by reason of insanity.

Could we maybe have an amendment that makes a minor exception to the "Cruel and unusual punishment" in regards to child killing/raping/molestering?

Please?

Maybe it could be emended to "no more cruel and unusual than the convicted felon's actions."

I kid, I kid.

Well as others mentioned I didn't see where it said the girl was raped. Lots of other stuff not mentioned as well.

The murderer however, at least, seems to want to show remorse. That's a step up from some child killers. It gives hope for rehabilitation.

Clearly this guy has a drug problem.

Sure it's sad, disgusting and unfathomable to most whenever a child is murdered. I'm not finding where this particular instance is so much more terrible than others, nor as a stand-out to promote the death sentence.

She was raped. According to local police reports and local newspapers, they found seaman all over her and the bedding she was wrapped in. Thay also mentioned that she was torn in a way that showed forced entry.

Now, I will most likely get beaten up for this statement but, I believe in the death penalty. Although it may not be any different than any other rape and murder of a child, it is still the rape and murder of a child. I belive that anyone who does such a henious crime should be put to death. That person, do not deserve to live; especially live in relative comfort on my tax dollar.
