Fare thee well, Bat Boy

MIAMI (Reuters) - Publisher American Media Inc. said on Tuesday it will stop printing the Weekly World News, which for 28 years gleefully chronicled the exploits of alien babies, animal-human hybrids and dead celebrities.

The company said in a brief statement it would end the print version of the tabloid newspaper next month but would maintain the online version (www.weeklyworldnews.com).
I used to buy a copy of the WWN back in high school where I'd bring it to study hall and it'd get passed around once I was done. Always a big hit and well worth the $1 investment. Now, so many grocery store patrons shall remain ignorant of Iraqi submarines in Lake Michigan, political dealings with aliens, where Satan is appearing in the form of a cloud of smoke and, of course, the going-ons of Bat Boy.

Besides jerk off to them, of course.

And I'm on board with every avatar theme I run across.

aww, I LOVE WWN. I used to have a WWN calendar that I hung in my office, much to the dismay of the secretary who for some reason found Bat Boy incredibly disturbing.

You know. For some reason, when I first glanced at your avatard, I read it as "Baby Parts (in) Lake Michigan". Like it was an advertistment with a what/where kinda thing. Dunno why...

I remember buying these and reading them as comic books. They never failed to entertain me. And I got a chuckle when every once in awhile they printed a real article. Jumping on the mourn wagon

When the bursting pulsar was discovered (http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/xte/learning_center/discover_0696.html) to underscore how unusual it was (is?) one of the scientists made a statement along the lines of: "we have no idea what it is...it could be Klingon Warships battling in the center of the galaxy."

And shortly thereafter in WWN (or the National Inquirer or some similar rag) headline:

NASA scientist claims Klingon Warships Battling at Center of Galaxy!

Now what will I read when I'm in the Speedy Checkout and the jackass ahead of me decides that it's okay to bring 30 items into the line to while away the time? Smiley: frown
