An 'Act of Bob', a tragic quirk of nature, or gL0b4l W4Rm1ngz0rzz?

Large parts of the UK are under several feet of water, with a few hundred thousand people without clean water, electricity or access to sanitation.

Linky

A co-worker phoned in today - his house is 3 feet deep in foul-smelling sewagey water. Can't get out of the house, no drinking water, toilet doesn't work (crap is coming up, not going down) and he's been told the flood's likely to recur on Thursday.

A Power Station in Gloucester is at risk of being inundadted and leaving another 1/4 million folks wihout electricity.

I blame Saddam/Britney Spears/David Beckham/ChUck Norris/gbaji

What is reassuring is the good old-fashioned British "We're all in this together" spirit.

Looting of houses and abandoned cars, people panic-buying bottled water so their neighbours are fUcked, and morans driving to stricken towns and villages to rubberneck at the victims.

Police are advising people to take any flood-damaged TVs, fridges etc, Smash them with hammers and leave them on their drive so looters aren't tempted.

It's just like the days of the Blitz! Smiley: oyvey

Yeah, we just had one hell of a Nor'easter today; I spent most of the day wading through Manhattan in the cold and rain. You fuCkers should be seeing it before long.

The detailed advice is to take photos of the fact that the flood shagged it up before laying the smack upon it.

I remember watching this on the news and before they told me where it was, I assumed it was somewhere in the states. First time I've heard of a flood in Britain...

Any stuff belonging to you or family get hit, Nobby?

It is sooo fUcking annoying tbh.

We're almost in August and the whole summer has felt like a grey Novemeber day. We've barely had any sunshine, it's dark as night at 11 in the morning, and Autumn is coming soon. I don't think I'll be able to keep my sanity for much longer if the weather doesn't improve, seriously. 2 years in a row of Autumn/Winter is just gonna drive me crazy. Already I get the urge to vote Conservative, post in the OOT, and give up smoking.

I thought global warming would turn London into Mallorca-upon-Thames, but it's just turning it in into London-upon-December. It is just so fUcking depressing...

The good news, however, is that I'm going for a 4-day break, holidayign to sunny climates of... Norway! That's right, I'm going to the Arctic to avoid the crappy English weather.

Thanks a lot God, thanks so bloody much... Smiley: motz [:shakesfist:]

I feel alone when I say I'm glad it's not as hot in London this summer =(
Standing on the train to work crammed in with 50 sweaty men and hot air is so unpleasant. I suppose the heat is good when you're visiting somewhere less crowded but London has a tendency to be the hottest place in the UK atm and it makes for some disgusting bus/train/shopping trips.

Besides, it's quite cool when it looks like nighttime during the daytime at work >.>

We get that for 9 months a year!!! Isn't it enough?! Surely if August was a tiny bit different from November, it would not be a bad thing?!

I take the tube everyday, and yeah, i agree it sucks when its all hot and sweaty, but that's only for 2 months a year, usually. Its cold and damp and sweaty all the rest of the time.

No, this is a rip-off and 2 months of sunshine have beens tolen from me.

I want them back!! Smiley: motz

Come to think of it, before about 3 years ago did England even have a proper summer? I can't remember people talking about it much, but then again we have 12 novembers a year in Scotland.

/em reverts to the childhood memory of it snowing in summer. =)

I don't know, but the first "heat wave" I remember in London was 6-7 years ago, and it was only like 25 degrees.

And yeah, I can imagine that Dundee can get pretty chilly.

Even in August. Smiley: tongue

Hot off the press!! the Power station is SAVED!! thanks to HMS Ocean ships company!! they sent 50 of our lads and lasses up there on sunday afternoon and they have spent the last 2 days building a sandbag wall to halt the flood before the Sub-station. They won the fight by a massive 2 inches at the peak late last night.

They have been working 10 hour shifts and sleeping on the floor in a TA center from all accounts.

More details to follow when they get back tomorrow.
