To finish HP book 7 that is. I had a late start as I didn't start reading until 3 am. My gallant Mr. Pikko offered to go out to get my book to prevent spoilers from being shouted at me. (actually he just didn't want me out by myself at 2 am) The poor guy waited for 1 1/2 hours in line for me and arrived back home at 2:45.

I went to bed at around 10:30 so I started reading with a scant 4ish hours of sleep. I finished reading at just about 11 pm, so 19 hours later. I have however, factored in my unfortunate, unintentional nap and an additional 2 hours of various kid related tasks. Meanwhile one of our friends finished reading at 10 am. Clearly my reading skillz are teh suck.

Completely unrelated to plot: JK Rowling has picked up this odd obsession with colons. I swear: There must have been a sentence on every page structured this way. Really: it drove me crazy.

Anyway, spoilers:

Anytime someone asked me what my thoughts were on Snape I insisted that he was 100% friend. Yesterday when Kao asked what I thought I said 100% friend, but he'd tragically die. I hadn't cried reading a HP book since Goblet of Fire when Cedric died, not for Sirius and not even for Dumbledore, yet when Snape died I just lost it and the tears were streaming down my face in droves.

I thought I'd be sad when I was done reading because when I finished OOTP and HBP I felt cheated because I'd blazed through it so quickly. Yet somehow I just feel happy to know everything. My one disappointment was the lack of details on how George coped with the loss of his twin and what he went on to do later in life.

Anyway, I know there are people sneering, but this message is obviously not for them. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have always admired JK Rowling's ability to surprise me with her plot, all the way back from Book 1. I'm happy to be a fan and I'm happy with the way she ended it. Really it seems like there was no other way.

Wow, that's weird that Mr. Pikko had to wait that long to get the book at that hour.

I decided to get it that afternoon and I picked it up at WalMart around 2am. They still had a bunch of books but there were no lines there! Plus, I also got some colorful rubber bracelets that I am going to send to my niece!

I think it took me about 12 or 13 hours to get through it all.

Took me nine hours...started at 12:30 AM, finished at 9:40 AM.

Interesting book, and I am glad she ended it the way she did...it definately ended in the way I hoped it would.

As long as we're tallying reading time in here, started at 1:22 AM and finished at 11:08 AM, so roughly ten hours.

Seriously, what is so hard about waiting a day or two and not standing in line for 12 hours? I'm like a fish without water if I don't have a book to read but it's still just a book.

For me, it was more of a chance to hang out with my friends and catch up as a big group for a few hours (something we barely get to do with work and whatnot).

For alot of people, it's a social event and something to do.

^^^^^^^That too, now that you mention it.

Well, for one, even though the book had been unofficially released on the internet, it's more likely to have a book like this spoiled for you only after a day or so after it's release. Secondly, twelve hours? I can't think of anyone who had to wait that long, even for the last book.

He went to a Borders and said that there wasn't really a line, it was just their system of doing it that made it take so long. I got a nice wall poster for free, though I have no idea where to put it. Maybe at work, haha.

I wanted to finish it ASAP so I could, you know, actually use the internets again. :P

Started at 10pm, finished at 3am, with a short break in the middle to help Imaelia finish her paper for summer school.

Would have gotten it sooner but my car broke down =P

The Big Brown Truck got here around 12:40pm; the wife finished by midnight but I took until after 4am.

I felt the same way about Snape, regarding his alliance: I knew he was still Dumbly's man and that the killing was on his order. Didn't cry for him, though.
Fred is what did it for me, partially because I'm a twin myself.

Best part of the book? Mrs. Weaselly screaming "YOU *****" to Belladonna, then taking her out!

I agree Debalic, that part was awesome. I'd never thought she'd be the one to do it.

I really teared up reading that Lupin and Tonks were dead too. =\

My favorite parts were

1- Narcissa betraying Voldemort because he's a complete ****** when it comes to human emotions.. "my death eaters will surely love me if I, say, want to kill their children!"
2- Mrs. Weaselly screaming "YOU *****" to Bellatrix, then taking her out, like Debalic said
3- With just one word not said in the past, he could have been Harry Snape

I'm surprised that I'm doing so well at fighting the temptation to look at what's blacked out...

It's killing me to know that I can't read the book until I can afford to buy it on payday. From the sound of it, it's a good book.

I just know that someone is going to spoil it for me before Friday...

Picked it up from the post office last night, got home and read from 7pm to 2am. Finished off the last 150 so pages this morning.

[black][bg=black]I hate Ron/Hermoine/Harry drama, hated it since Goblet of Fire. Having it in a tent this time didn't help. Overall most of the story arches were finished off, though as mentioned it would have been satisfying to have the fred/george loss explored more.

Hagrid didn't die so all in all it was pretty **********************
