Besides the DIY network or Homedepot.com or other retailers, can anyone recommend a good DIY website that has guides to small projects and stuff? I'm talking for the carpentry retarded here.

This site has some hit or miss free plan type stuff. About 75% actual plans 25% junk.:

http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/resources/index.php?cat=102

Or if you want I can find you a balsa wood radio control airplane plan for you if that would be somethign you would be interested in.

Do you have access to a plotter to print out a cad plan sheet?

What kind of projects are you looking for?

These are some basic DIY crafty sites.

You can try Crafster or Craftbits - for all kinds of crafty goodness.

For things a little more intricate, you can also try the ReadyMade, Make or Craft magazine sites.

I refuse to incriminate myself by providing links to every DIY/Craft website on the net.

But trust me if I don't know them all.

I hate him. It's like I asked for a recipe and you linked Bobby Flay's website.

I was always a bigger fan of Norm Abram myself. And Bobby Flay sucks ***. Both him and Cat Cora are the worst "Chefs" on TV.

I like Norm pretty well. He's a little geeky, but oh well, haha.

Used to be good, now mostly obnoxiously pretentious. Also: getting fat.

For food, yes. I don't know anyone (that comes to mind at least) that knows more about Molecular Gastronomy then Alton.

See: Awesomeness.

You're just angry because he said to use dry ice to freeze your berries.

At least he isn't Rachel Ray, with her bobdamned "Evoo" bullshit

Did I actually tell you that? I must have posted it before, haha.

Also: I'm not taking two ******* days to make a pizza crust...I don't care HOW good it is. Pizza is convenience food.

It was in IRC one night. A hot steamy night with you, me, Pikko, and some mention of Elmo and vibrators.

Of course! Molecular Gastronomy is all the rage at the moment! Take a look at Heston Blumenthal (Owner of The Fat Duck...UK restaurant), or Shirley Corriher, who wrote CookWise: The Hows and Whys of Successful Cooking, or Harold McGee, who wrote On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen...it's all very topical at present.

Actually, I was just kidding before, implying that you wouldn't necessarily "know" that someone knew anything about Molecular Gastronomy since it doesn't often come up in conversation if you're not actually a chef. I just excel at googling. See how my powers could be used for evil (*coughgbajicough*)?

OH right. After that conversation, is it any surprise that I forgot we'd also talked about Alton Brown?

I was a Sous for a number of years. It came up from time to time. Smiley: grin

Ahhh, but know more then Alton?

I could just be thinking he's the authority because he's mainstream and accessible.

I would agree that he is most definitely the most accessible authority, at least in the US. He's like a chef crossed with Bill Nye.

Slartibartfast?

No, that's perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the universe gets that.
