Tonight I drove my car home for the last time.

I've had it from brand new, and 4 years, 65,000 miles later on, it's never let me down.

It's been reliable, and helped create some fine moments.

These include:

  • Leaving a cop car standing when I didn't really want to have to explain the contents of the boot/trunk
  • Winning a bet with a friend by crossing 12 different national borders in 24 hours. (He managed 9 in his Porsche)
  • Giving Darqflame a practical lesson in why winding country lanes in England can prove that adrenaline is brown
  • Gripping me love-spuds in terror when DF took it through the gearbox at full revs
  • Trying to keep a one-handed grip on the wheel so DF could get a clear camera-shot at the speedometer hitting 128mph on a public road
  • Leaving it outside No. 10 Downing Street and tossing the keys to a shady 'agent'
  • Dropping off Dracoid at University knowing that the 1st fledgling had finally flown the coop

This has been the best car I've ever owned. I'm handing it over tomorrow for my new pride and joy, but I felt duty-bound to pay my respects to a 4-wheeled friend that never let me down.

I'll miss it. Smiley: cry

'sboo'ful!

Sticks to the road like a sticking thing and an amazingly comfortable ride. Need to put a few hundred miles on the clock before I really open her up, but so far, loving it.

And luckily, today is a 'top down' day, so my forehead is becoming as liken unto an tomaaato.

Obviously you brits are not properly supporting the worlds oil/gas industry. It's unAmerican not to put on at least AT LEAST 25k miles/year.

Very nice car. I always wished you could get them here in the states. I've also always liked the Cavalier, and the Astra.

I would probably even be inclined to sell a body part or two to get a speedster imported over here.

Supposedly the handsome and expensive-looking interior is unchanged from the Opel’s, which was not the case in the Opel Vectra–to–Saturn Aura transformation.

Unfortunately, we don’t get the 200-hp 2.0-liter turbo and the six-speed manual that are available in the Opel.

6-Speed Gearbox 4tW.

Even we Brits have heard how GM emasculated the Vectra, made the interior cacky, shagged up the suspension and called it the 'Saturn Aura' Smiley: oyvey

Sadly, I notice they're not making a US version of the TwinTop, so yours won't be able to do the Sexy Darqflame Dance like mine does

It's a thing of beauty to see her top come off and on.Smiley: sly

I mean the car, dammit!

I travel about 20K miles per year. And while the British Isles are the size of a small US State, I tend to travel through mainland Europe frequently.

2 Weeks ago I covered 1185miles in 5 days through France, Belgium & Holland, so our island may be small, but for some of us, a car that can cover the milage matters.

Oh, - My 1st 90 miles in the new TwinTop averaged 53MPG.
