Movie Review: HP & the Order of the PhoenixFollow

#27 Jul 14 2007 at 3:40 AM Rating: Decent
I went with the girl to see it last night. I thought it was alright. Nothing spectacular, nothing hoorible. A completely forgetable movie. I thought that the special effects on Hagrid's brother were without a doubt some of the worst I have ever seen. The battle at the end in the ministry I expected to be a little bit longer than it was. But they are definitely going to have to hurry up and get the last two movies filmed. I don't really feel like seeing Harry Potter running around with more facial hair than I have in the seventh movie. Luna was amusing though because I know a girl who has that vacant expression on her face all the time.

other then the forums here being a bit FUBAR, we just returned home from watching the movie at the local iMAX in 3D. i can say this is much better then the 4th movie and well worth the extra cash to go see it on the iMAX monster screen and the 3D was done extremely well.

it is not the entire movie, just from the flight scene until the end of the big fight so in all about 10-20min worth of GREAT 3D.

as i have NOT read any of the books all i can comment on is that this one seemed to flow much better, the acting was way better then in the 4th, and the entire movie was a pleasure to watch.

i will go see it again and i will buy the DVD when it comes out.

I too just came back from seeing it in IMAX 3d. The fight scene at the end was the only 3d part, but it was awesome to see. Definitely lifted up the rest of the movie, which was fairly forgettable.

Agreed, but other special effects made up for it in my opinion.

Hagrids, brother the giant, was very endearing, graphically well done, and his fast friendship with Hermione was sincere and heart-warming.

ROFL

the graphics for the giant, were not so bad, have seen worse, and IMHO did not detract from the rest of the movie at all.
