This book was about 900 pages, the movie not quite 2.5 hours long. So, you can imagine there was LOTS left out.

The opening scene starts with a much matured Harry Potter. His shoulders have widened, jaw squared up, you know, looking like a young man. This, of course fits perfectly with this storyline of the angsty teen coming of age, if you will. Much like the book, this scene ends with Harry using the Petronis Curse to fend off the two dementors that have attacked him and Dudley. It was well done.

As the story goes on we finally get to know Sirius a bit. I didn't like Sirius. I liked the character in the story, I didn't like the way the actor portrayed him. He seemed arrogant, insincere and shifty...even in his dealings with Harry. I dunno, rubbed me the wrong way.

The other new characters introduced though, I did like, specifically Luna, Tonks and best of all Bellatrix. Bellatrix was awesome - easily now my favorite HP character. Hagrids, brother the giant, was very endearing, graphically well done, and his fast friendship with Hermione was sincere and heart-warming.

Despite cutting much from the book, the movie makers stayed true to the story as they have through all the movies. The Order of the Phoenix, though an important turning point in the whole Harry and Hogwarts saga, has been my least favorite of the books and probably my least favorite movie as well. There was much less in the way of high adventure and excitement and NO quiddith what-so-ever. Still, the movie was well done, it's fun seeing the same kids(actors) all growing up together. There was easily eight bucks of entertainment packed into the 2.5 hours of viewing time.

I give this movie, ummm, 3.5 stars ***8

I was disappointed needless to say. I actually really liked the book and was not happy with the way that the director portrayed the script on the big screen. I thought that they compromised the integrity of the novel just so they could make a movie out of it. It was entertaining enough to keep me awake at 11pm at night, but I was expecting a lot more.

I agree with the OP: Bellatrix is now my favorite HP movie character. The actress was phenominal in her portayal and I was more than impressed with the interpretation of the character. Well Done!

I also liked Luna as well, although she annoyed the crap out of me at times.

Meh, I will wait anxiously for the new book which of course will be excellent like they always are. I have liked every single book in the series, so I am sure the new one will not disappoint.

Transformers was wayyyyy better IMO.

I thought they did a good job with the Harry Potter movie. It was pretty true to the book, even though it was obviously compressed for time. Radcliffe has really grown as an actor over the course...

Oh wait, I didn't read or see it, because I'm not a fucking 11 year old girl.

That's right, I'd forgotten for a minute.

Right... because the most mature people amongst us can't possibly enjoy something children like, too.

The movie was pretty much completely off from the book, and I don't see how Bellatrix can be your 'new favorite characters' as she barely got any screen time at all.

Can, sure. Pay money to do so intentionally foregoing doing something else, no. I'm afraid the mature people "amungst" you can't do that.

Is your life really so horrible that you took the time to post that? Just kill yourself, no one could possibly object at this point.

i liked the last one better, but this one was pretty good.

what its lacking, what they ALL are lacking is a progression to the story line. yes, they are getting older. yes they are learning new tricks, but the plot is getting really really tired.

evil warlock wants to destroy the good wizards and witches. we learned that by the second book/movie.

nothings changed. the story line is just dead. no progresson. no new secrets. the only thing that changes in any of them is just the little gizzmo Dr. Evil is trying to steal. thats it. other than that, really, the only differnce is the characters are getting older, and the funny parts are being traded out for scarey parts.

new gizmo, less funny, more scarey, older characters.

the plot line itself is just......missing in action.

I wanna see more wizard fight scenes. Like when Dumbldore faught Voldamort for the whole 5mins, that had to be like the best part of the movie.

Well, to be fair, that's been the theme of pretty much the whole series.

I've been eagerly awaiting this movie, since I've just recently read the series (and just re-read the last two books in the past month). We'll be seeing it sometime next week, probably. Order of the Phoenix is probably my favorite book.

The scene I want to see the most (and hope it's in the movie) is the Weasely twins leaving school. Accio Brooms!

Yeah, where was the swamp? Smiley: frown

Given the fact that the book is a long one, I was able to forgive a bit in the movie. It was decent. I am glad that I went earlier and only had to pay $5.75. I felt dirty after paying the $8.75 admission for trash such as Transformers and Fantastic Four.

Umbridge was way over the top evil. If I was into older, sadistic, kitten lovin' grandma's, I totally would have been sportin' wood.

I'd say the same, course the movies, much like the books all kind of run together for me. It's the same cast, crew, director, author etc. so very much a continuation of what's gone before.

/agree

That's what wizzy's are for is nuking things. I'm imagining the last book will have an all out wand-wielding war between Harry and Voldemort.

Well since the secrets out..yeah, it's in the movie and while not as spectacular as the image Rowling creates in our heads via the written word, it's pretty fun to see.

Oh please, the book has been out for two years now! We already know Who kills Who in the sixth book, so anything in the fifth movie shouldn't bother anyone.
