China executed the former head of their FDA yesterday. He was taking bribes, some of which, reportedly led to the approval of bad drugs that may have been responsible for up to ten deaths.

Whatdya think....fitting punishment?

Nope. He should have been pumped full of the drugs that killed other people. That would have been fitting, imho

If the guy was healthy, that would probably have little effect. My guess is these drugs were tainted or perhaps untested. As is usually the case, the victims were likely the young, elderly or weak. This is all speculation however.

There have been plenty of instances where the actions or inactions of a US public servant, whether accidental, negligent or even knowingly negligent, have caused and/or contributed to the death of one or many. The official would likely lose their job, perhaps any licensure required for their profession, and for the bribery might face criminal charges...but execution?...we would never consider it.

Was he the same guy responsible for the poisoned pet food, poisoned toothpaste and lead-based paint on children's toys?

if that...

Keep in mind that this guy is not the individual that SOLD the tainted toothpaste, or produced the bad drugs. Should the company owner that distributed bad drugs be executed?

When some poisoned lettuce seeps out into the market and kills off a couple individuals, is the USDA responsible? the farmer? the distributor, all?
