The Circus is coming to town...Follow

#1 Jul 10 2007 at 4:58 AM Rating: Good
Yep, the Beckham circus, comprising mainly of a clown and an inflatable doll.

So, what do you sport afficionados make of this?

Do you give a Shit?

Are you gonna watch the LA Galaxy because of it?

Do you think this will change the way Americans view soccer football?

Had you even heard about his move before this thread?

I'm quite curious as to what Americans make of all this. Beckahm is not much of a player anymore, but he is an awesome marketing machine, and surely this means something in sports nowadays. He is both revered and ridiculed in equal measure here in the UK, but everything he does is still a big deal.

That makes him just about perfect for L.A.

You live in SF, right? Had you heard about his move? Do people talk about it? Do they even know who he is?

And yes, I am assuming that because you live in SF, you can pretty much speak for the whole of Cali.

Northern CA and Southern CA are effectively different states. But yes, I'd heard about him, mainly from reading the Fug Girls.

Manchester United could defect and become the New York <insert team name here> and it wouldn't be a blip on 99% of American's radar. Even with years of soccer moms pushing their kids into playing soccer "cause its safer and great exercise", most people over here just aren't going to care. And by high school, the best athletes of those kids that played soccer have switched sports.

We don't get 1-0 soccer scores, the rest of the world doesn't get 27-24 football scores. I seriously doubt it will ever change with mainstream America.

Will they throw down and fight the Pussycat Dolls?

I'd buy tickets.

Don't care.

Do you give a sh*t?

No.

Are you gonna watch the LA Galaxy because of it?

No.

Do you think this will change the way Americans view soccer?

One player isn't going make watching a boring sport any more bearable. Not even if you're one of the best players and have a hot wife. Just ask Tiger.

Had you even heard about his move before this thread?

Yes.
