To be fair, that's a lot of corn in one insurance agency.

A high average yield on an acre of corn is about 200 bushels (it's closer to 150/acre). So that's 600 bushels of corn in a dream scenario. Corn is selling for $3.25 or so per bushel.

A mighty $1,950 not counting cost of production. Holy smokes, Varrus is rich!! Smiley: laugh

Estimating! Smiley: laugh

That's how I know that an acre isn't nearly as impressive as Varrus apparently thinks it is.

If that's all you put into it, you sure as hell aren't getting a 200 bushel per acre yield. You'll be lucky to get 100 bushels an acre. You also left out harvesting. Oh, and sweet corn isn't used in ethanol, dumb ***. You use dent corn.

Enjoy your stay at the Aruba Budget-Rest Motel. Smiley: laugh

You have no idea how easy corn is to do, a little plowing, a little rotovating, plenty of drip irrigation hoses, and you pick up a few k. H*ll 5yrs ago I grew a variety of vegetables and didn't have near the set up I have now and made 5k over the summer. You realize that those 3acres of corn isn't all I have growing don't you? I have another garden that has plenty of okra, squash, cucumbers, egg plant, watermelons, strawberries, oh and banana's (turns out moving all my banana trees indoors over the winter was a good thing, I actually have bananas i'll be eating in about a month)

Now if only they'd let me keep a cow in city limits(no I'm not making a pass at your chica)

Uh huh. You had no idea how large an acre is, what the average yield per acre is or even what kind of corn was used for ethanol. Boy, you're one hell of a farmer.

BTW, I'm tickled pink that you keep making new accounts just to talk to me. Good to know I inspire that much effort from you Smiley: smile

Who ever said I was a farmer? I do that strictly as a hobby so I can have my own food maybe sell a little to finance a vacation, plus it's a good excuse to be outside. No need to ask you what your hobbies are. You do realize I own an insurance agency don't you?

p.s. I do enjoy conversing with you people despite what the racist powers that may be think.
