What the hell were the Rangers thinking when they paid over $7mil for Gomez? So now he's on the same pay scale as Thornton?

Gomez was also injured for the majority of last season if I'm not mistaken. The prior years he does put up good numbers. Not Joe Thornton numbers, but good numbers regardless. Seven million a year for him is way to much though. How much did they pay for Drury? 6 million? And I think Drury is much better than Gomez.

Am I the only one that sees Anahiem getting Bertuzzi for $4mil as a deal? The upside on this guy is huge if he ever gets even close to where he was before the "incident". While the downside is, you get a talented player that's underacheiving, which means he'll be sporadic. At $4mil (considering what Drury and Gomez jsut got), I think that's a bargain.

I really don't know if Bertuzzi will ever return to form. But if he can do it anywhere Anaheim is a good place for it. He won't be relied upon to score 40-50 goals a year. And let's face it, if he scores over 20 most people will see it as a good season for him at this point. Was kind of surprised he went there though. I would have thought he would do much better in Detroit.

gomez played 72 games last year. he's only cracked 20 goals once. granted he's got assists, but for that kind of dough he better be multi-dimensional.

i figured bertuzzi would get a more incentive heavy contract than he did. 4 mill for a headcase is alot

Brian Burke is in Anahiema and if you go back and watch any of the video from when the playoffs and the hit that got Bertuzzi suspended, it was Burke who stood by him 100% through out it all. I'm not surprised to see him there. Just surpirsed Detroit let him slip away.
