Other than the fact that the Wild didn't get f'uck all for the best goalie available on the trade market, not much. Although, Anaheim went a long way towards filling the hole Niedermayer is going to leave with Shneider from the wings.
I didn't see that they snagged Schneider. Just read that San Jose resigned Thornton, no real mystifying surprise there. Fernandez became expendable to them but I think they are going to be sorry they let him go. He may not be the best goalie in the league but he is definitely enough to put the team on his back and carry them for a bit. Look what Luongo did in Vancouver, Fernandez is capable of that.
The only thing that is higher on the lameness scale than hockey is baseball. Followed by women's tennis, women's basketball, women's golf, men's tennis, men's golf, the PBA, and curling.
Wow lots of movement on just the first day. Drury and Scott Gomez going to the Rangers. Flyers picked up Briere. Ryan Smyth went to Colorado. Red Wings got Rafalski. And Toronto got Jeff Blake. Should be interesting.
Colorado signed Smyth to 5 years @ 6 mill a year. Good deal? He's a gritty player but I'm not sure he was worth the 5.5 mill the Oilers refused to pay him.
Then again, the Oilers suck balls completely now. Yay!

Hockey died when they expanded beyond the original 6. Then it died when something else happened. Oh yeah, then it died again a few years later. The lock-out killed hockey. Hockey is dead.
Thank you very much for your commentary, now shut the f'uck up, I have season tickets to pay for so that I can fund part of the expansion of the dead sport.
I'd really like to see SJ actually get in the finals next season. I've been waiting on that for more than a decade now. Hell, I may actually bone up and buy a new jersey if they do (rather than the one I have that's 12 years old).

Until they get a better goalie, it won't matter what they do.

Penguins inked Petr Sykora and Darryl Sydor to 2 year deals today. I'm liking how they are turning out right now.
Sykora was, at best, average last season. I sure hope he plays better in Pittsburgh.
He better, cause they're gonna be fubed again in a few years when they need to start resigning all of those young guns. They've got to win it all in the next 2-3 years.
Nah they actually got kind of lucky. The resignings will be staggered. Crosby first, then Malkin and Fleury(I believe) the year after, then Staal the next. Plus the lure of a new arena and the long *** lease they will most likely want to stay here. Sykora will end up being the new Stu Barnes here in Pittsburgh. Stand to the side of the net and let Crosby bank it in off his stick. Sydor will be a good addition to the defense considering the only true stay at home d-men the Penguins have are Rob Scuderi and Mark Eaton. At least this year they can actually be players in free agency.

They just might do better than the Vikings. Well, as far as win percentages go. Then again, a high school cheerleading team would have a better win percentage than the Minnesota Vikings. So I suppose that isn't saying much.
