I'm hitting the road tomorrow as soon as the movers pick up my stuff to transport back east to my new home in Maryland. I'll be driving with my faithful sidekick, Dashiell the wonder pup (8 months and getting bigger! Smiley: yikes).

My first stop will be down in Los Angeles (Brentwood) to see my mom and step-dad. Then, off to Arizona by way of Route 40 with a slight detour to check out the Grand Canyon - I'm looking forward to the Skywalk thing.

After that, I'll be crossing the rest of Arizona, New Mexico, a bit of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, cross half of Tennessee before heading north on Route 81 to Virginia and finally arriving in Maryland. I've got to get there by Thursday night at the latest, since I go to settlement on my home this Friday.

I've never been to Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Tennessee (been to Texas before but not this area) so I'm very stoked to see the great southwest region.

Anyhoo, if any of you regulars happen to live reasonably close to anywhere on my journey, let me know and I'll try to hook up for a beer, coffee or lunch. PM me and I'll give you my contact info.

I will have my laptop with me and I hope I'll be staying at motels along the way with wi-fi capability, or, at the very least, Internet capability.

The last time I made that trip, my alternator belt broke in Little Rock. I had spent all my cash the night before at a hotel in Memphis and the only thing I had left was my Mom's Amaco credit card. It took every ounce of charm and suaveness in my body to convince the lady at the service station to give me a twenty and charge it to the card so I could buy another belt. Good times, good times.

Incedentally, once you get to Barstow you've seen Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas (at least the part you're going through, Texas is really no different unless you go farther south and get east of Beaumont).

Anyways, drive safe and have a good trip.

FUcker! On your way through Ventura County (that be the one, one county north of Los Angeles) wave at me on your way through. I'll be the guy out on the patio of the local mexican restaurant enjoying the warm afternoon with free chips and salsa and endless margaritas with my friends. That would be if you drive down the 101, if you chose the 5 you are stupid, stupid, stupid, and I hope you enjoyed the endless and boring landscape.

Drove 8 hours to LA last night and visited my mom & step-dad this morning in Brentwood. Tonight, I'm writing this from a nice motel near the Grand Canyon - I love that the place has wi-fi for Internet access.

I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen of Arizona so far - it really gets amazingly hot here in the day - had to be over 100 degrees easily. I've got the sunburn to prove it.

Dashiell is such a babe-magnet, it's awesome. I met some beautiful women today in LA - of course, beautiful women are a dime a dozen in LA, but still! Rawrr! Smiley: drool2

He says hi to everyone that matters - you know who you are...

Glad you're having a good trip so far Snorre. Wish you could have made it as far south as San Diego so we could have caught a drink together! Smiley: frown
