The New 10 Commandments: Road Rage EditionFollow

Quote:

1. You shall not kill.

You know the Pope is getting New agey when he drops the "Thou"

2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.

Drive through communion, sweet!

3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.

So will having Jesus ride shotgun.

4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.

But remember if you mess up, they can and probobly will sue you.

5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.

So no driving a Hummer, or receiving one in another vehicle.

6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.

Find a way to take their keys without stealing them. Cause, ya know, it's a sin and all.

7. Support the families of accident victims.

I've got nothing "witty" to interject here.

8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.

If the victims attempt to attack the guilty motorist: It is not the appropriate time.

9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.

This time, Ho's before bro's.

10. Feel responsible toward others.

If you don't, go to hell!

I read about this on CNN this morning. Does anybody else think that this makes the teachings of the Catholic church somewhat trivial? I mean, it almost seems like they made this a tongue-in-cheek proclamation.

Look, it's bad enough that you're adding your insipid little opinions to reasonably interesting threads; but stop bumping trash.

I only posted on this because I read about it this morning and thought, as I stated earlier, that it seemed to cheapen church proclamations in general by having a "Ten Commandments for the Road." As I am in the OOT forum I wanted to see if anybody wanted to talk about this. I am new here, and I admit I'm not familiar with forum etiquette, but I see no reason I should be derided for wanting to discuss things that other people post here.

There's one major version of the Bible which uses "Thou". Granted, it's the most well known to the rank-and-file but even the New King James version uses "You".

Oh, and the "proclamation" was issued by the Vatican but not by the Pope personally. It's not as though he spoke it ex cathedra. It seems a bit silly to me but it's the difference between the White House issuing a cutsheet of safe driving tips for the holidays and the president issuing an executive order prohibiting passing an accident without helping.

You seem to be missing some key points here.

1. This isn't the OOT. You can find that here.
2. You aren't being derided for wanting to discuss something that other people post here. You are being derided because you suck and you don't belong (and probably because your username is ******* stupid).
3. I don't like you. Please die, preferably by means of incineration.

As I am a lapsed Catholic myself, I posted this out of boredom and now feel guilty for having done so.

I'm off to flogg myself now.

Er...I've been posting here for awhile now. I'll admit, this particular thread probobly isn't my best, and while many regulars on this board may not like me, I'm at least tolerated/ignored often enough that the powers that be "allow" me to continue posting.

And by "allow me to continue posting" I mean in the two years or so I've been posting here I haven't yet been rated down into sub-defaultness.

But hey, they'll be plenty of time for that later.
