the pool store hustleFollow

got alot of rain here in not so sunny miami in the last week. so went to the pool store to have the water tested.

right in front of me, he used a bottle of water to test for ph and stabalizer that did not come from my pool. i noticed the very same bottle at all 3 of the test stations. he did use my water to test for chlorine and calcium though.

turns out i needed 8 lbs of sodium bicarbonate(baking soda) and 4 lbs of stabilizer.

ROFL, buyer beware. im a do it yourselfer mostly. i just added 1/2 a gallon of acid last week because testing said i need a gallon. i know rain water would take care of part of it, and iof anything, i should have needed a little more acid, not 8 lbs of sodium bicarb.

and if i had listened to him, i would be adding 2 gallons of acid next week to counter the super high ph the 8 lbs of bicarb would have created.

i am so sick of people. pinch a penny pool supplies.

the time when you used to be able to count on a professional telling you what you needed and then giving you JUST what you needed have been gone a long time. car dealers, realtors, electicians, plumbers, all of them.

people wonder why the majority of people in large cities are angry all the time and always acting like you are trying to steal from them. well, its not parinoia if they REALLY ARE all trying to steal from you. people are more than likely to be do it yourselfers in small towns. and a bad rep from a professional would spell the end of his carrier in a small town.

in a large city however, it doesnt matter if you **** off 100 people catching you trying to rob you, because they know their competors will do the same, and there will be 1000 new customers to rob right behind you when you walk out the door.

thats probably why service is so bad in most big cities. and problably why most people look really pissed every time they walk in to a car dealer, realtors office, or even.....the local pool store.

i watched a man wheel out a shoping cart of chemicals to his car the pool guy said he needed.

i said nothing. no point. the next place would rob his stupid **** too.

buyer beware.

Correct.

I think 'Money' and 'Profit' were invented a few thousand years ago.

Them were the days Smiley: oyvey

Sounds more like you're now of an age when you realise that stores are there to make money, and that when you used to believe they had your best interests at heart, it was the naivety of youth.

Dammit Chaucer was whining about the same thing in th 1390s, and ISTR Plutarch made similar observations long before Baby Jebus got his first Power Rangers action figures.

I don't think you understand what that term means.

rofl, yea i kind a missed the irony in PINCH a penny pool supplies. its not even really them that pisses me off so much. its more the fact they did it blatently right in front of me as a matter of store policy and not even caring weather i was stupid enough not to see it.

kind of like when my fuel injection system on my boat was going bad. the USA Powerboat marine shop mechanic set in right away swapping parts without even doing any testing to find the problem.

after 5 hours of part swapping i made him pull the crap he put in out and took my boat home and did it myself. took me 20 minutes with a pressure testor and ohm meter to find the problem, and another hour or so to find out why.

he didnt care. there is alot more money in swapping parts than fixing the problem. sure, i didnt pay him, but the 1000 fools coming in after me will. and even if anyone raises a stink, it wont matter, the next shop will do the same.

just jaded. gets on your nerves after a time. people suck.

Huh? What irony?

"Penny pinching" means reluctant to spend money. Which isn't accurate in this case.

It's the 'tards writing style. "Pinch a Penny Pool Supplies" is the name of the store that tried to rip him off.

At least that's how I read it.

Shadow, you seem a little down these days. Might I suggest you go out and get laid? I suspect it'll brighten your whole perspective on the human race.

Did you bother to ask the guy what he was doing? Most instruments need to be calibrated, often on site, with 'a blank' sample or known quantity type water. Perhaps that's what the guy was doing???

Rain water, even that of the non acid rain type is acidic. Rain water in the US pH ranges around 4.5 - 5.5.
