...to California! Smiley: grin Since there's no reason for me to stay in San Francisco any longer (i.e., impending divorce and all), I flew back to Maryland last week (just got back today) for a job interview in Rockville, Maryland. The interview went well (we already had a phone interview two weeks before). About an hour later, as I was pulling up to my cousin's house in Frederick, MD, I got the phone call with a very nice offer. Of course, I accepted.

The reason I went to my cousin's house is because his wife is my realtor in Maryland. Soooo, after 3 and 1/2 days and looking at 20-25 homes, I had 3 or 4 strong possibilities for which home to put a bid on. Fortunately, my first choice's bid was selected with no counter-offer.

This time, I'm much closer to family and friends back there. My new home is within decent commuting distance from the job. I'll be living in Frederick. While the house isn't too much different from my old home in Westminster, this one doesn't have a psycho hill to mow and it has a nice large fenced-in back yard for Dashiell, my pup. It's in a nicer community, too - amenities include tennis, swimming pools, jogging/biking paths, daycare, etc.

I start the new job 2nd week in July and go to settlement on the new home June 29th. So Dash and I will be trekking across the country (most likely taking a south-easterly route (want to see the Grand Canyon, New Mexico, etc.)in about 2 to 3 weeks.

Fortunately, I'm about 80% packed - I've got to knock out the rest of the packing this week and next. Smiley: yikes

With all this going on, I'll probably miss out on the Allanois after all. I'll try to catch the next gathering, I promise!

Gratz, Smoggy!

It's a bummer that you'll be missing Allanois. Ironically enough, the next one will probably be in... California. Smiley: laugh

Doh! Well, that's cool - I have friends up here in Northern California and my mom and step-dad are in Los Angeles (Brentwood). If it's gonna be held in San Diego, that's cool - maybe sync it up with the big comic book convention then.

No reason to stay in Cali? WTF? I'll be in SF for the weekend in just a couple of weeks.

Seriously though, grats on the house and on the job. Glad to hear you're doing well.

I know the divorce is amiable right now, but are you sure you want to close and buyu property before the divorce is final? Might be wiser to rent for a few months til the final paperwork is signed.

You just bought a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath house for you and a dog?

You must have a lot of stuff.

Allanois isn't for another 2.5 months...you've got plenty of time to get your **** together, and it's on a weekend. No pansy-*** excuses!

Thanks all!

Yup, just me and the dog...and I have more stuff...for now! Consider the house as my preparation for a future life with someone. Besides, I gots to have my 2-car garage!

As far as the divorce goes, it's a done deal and we should be divorced in November. All the paperwork is signed and submitted. Just got to wait out 6 months from when we submitted it. My wife has no interest in making things more difficult for me and nor I for her. While at times it has been really tough, I'm ok and moving on. I see no reason to not start taking Bhodi's advice and meeting new ladies and all.

When are you coming down BT? I might still be here and would like to have a few beers with ya! Also, I'll be back in Vanguard as soon as things settle down in real life.

Definitely we'll hook up again, Danalog! We'll grab Kelvy and anyone else for sure to come along.

I can't make any promises about Allanois - I'll be just starting a new job and getting acclimated back there in Maryland. If I can, I'll try to make it up.

Welcome back Snorre.

Guess that hill of doom did some good. Very nice house and decent commute to work. I'm jealous of the built in bookcases.

Have fun visiting the Grand Canyon. Try to spend more then a day on the rim and watch a sunrise and sunset, sitting on the edge of the canyon.

If you're ever in Baltimore, let me and Jonwin know. If he busy at work, I'm sure I can get you on the Constellation for free.

I'll be in town the last weekend of the month, from like the 29th through the 1st or 2nd, I think. Also, I'm playing on Hilsbury again, made a disciple which I enjoy more than my God-mode cleric and hopefully I'll have him caught up to you and Git level-wise by the weekend.

Also, since there is talk of Allanois in this thread, I s'pose it's as good a place as any to break all of your hearts and let you know that I will need to be in San Antonio that weekend. Now don't everyone cancel their plans to attend all at once, I wouldn't want that. Next year, hopefully.

I'm still mostly playing on Hilsbury also; Gots my main toon Purly the Sorceress, level 25, but taking a break from blowing things up to try and learn to deal with people a bit more diplomatically. I've also been raising up my Vulmane Dr00d Buckdancer. Look me up, eh.

Yeah, I'll be doing the settlement on the house on the 29th, so I'll already be back there. I'll hop on Hilsbury tonight though! Yeah, disciples are pretty cool.

Well bummer. I don't think business will ever carry me to the east coast because I drink too much and I'm sort of blacklisted. Oh well, look forward to seeing you back in game.

It's price, not location necessarily, that matters to me as far as where the next one is held. If we're doing it in Cali, I hope it's one of the less expensive times of year because the flight will already be a ton for me. I still like BT's idea of having an Alla-camping trip on his farm, hehe. Bonfires and free sleeping arrangements!

And for those who don't like tents I have three bedrooms and a motor home that can sleep like five! Also, there's the barn, but it's pretty much full of empty bottles at this point.
