It's a dark day in sci-fi fan land. The executive producers of Battlestar Galactica have announced the series will end its run at the conclusion of its fourth season, which premieres in November. The news ends months of speculation from the show's devoted followers, who have been readying themselves for the worst. "This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end," the producers said in a statement. "Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms."

It's only been four years? Not that I've ever watched it, but I keep hearing about it, seeing threads popping up, etc. what seems like forever.

On a similar note, is there currently a Star Trek still being produced? Again, not that I've ever watched anything but the original cardboard-set series...

Yeah, heard about this last Friday and was pretty bummed. Still, I'm glad it's not going to end up dying a slow torturous death like X-Files did. I'm sure they won't let me down like Heroes did. I still remember gaping in complete awe in the Exodus Part 2 episode when they jumped mid-atmosphere. That was seriously one of the most badass things I've ever watched on tv.

Or last season's finale. I still have it on the TiVo and watch it maybe once every couple of months cause I really like their All Along the Watchtower version. Plus that scene with the 4 of them still gives me chills. Tigh has become such a powerhouse character, huge difference from the despicable man we saw in first season.

"My name is Saul Tigh. I'm an officer in the Colonial Fleet. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that's the man I want to be. And if I die today, that's the man I'll be."

Ok, /nerd off. Smiley: frown

The Galactica jumping into the atmosphere was pretty badass but Starbuck coming back from the dead was lame, jump the shark lame. The only reasonable excuse I can think of for it is a set up for remake of 'War of the Gods' epsiodes.

Damn only 1 more season of BSG oh well once they find/reach earth not much else they can do with the show. I'd rather have it end before it got to campy and boring.

I miss X-Files ; ;. fox Mulder = /drool

Well, it might be a good thing. At least it appears to be ending as they wanted it to. Meaning that it didn't get cancelled out of the blue causing them to rush an ending that is utterly ridiculous (Farscape for instance, which didn't have an "ending" until they did the miniseries. Or Angel, which was one big anti-climactic ending).

It's sad, but it might be for the best. After all, what else can they do with the characters?

Mind you, I've got some vision that the ending might be like Stephen King's ending to the Dark Tower series, not going to say what that was as some might want to lynch me if I did, but those who have read it know what I mean.

I gots to finish watching the first few seasons of this. I think I'm over the ridiculousness of the last episode I watched now, and could probably enjoy it again, hahaha. Good for them though, knowing when to end it.

Better it gets ended well, than drawn out till it's only a shadow of it's former self. I just started watching it finally a couple months ago, and just finished season 2.5. I'm waiting for season 3 to come out on DVD.

I heard there was supposed to be a movie between season 3 and 4, so basically this summer sometime. Was that just a rumor?

They should have just stopped after the season finale for last season.

I had thought that I had seen the tritest, most ludicrous horse **** blowing excuse for plotting and dialog that was possible when I watched the last season of Lost, but no, I was sadly mistaken. The last 5 episodes of BSG made the guy who wrote Earnest Goes to Jail look like ******* James Joyce.

That show is dead to me. Dead I say.

Er, uh... rebuttal..

I can't really rebutt that because I hated Baltar's trial. The only good thing that came out of it was Romo Lamkin. I can't stand Baltar in the first place so having to put up with his tripe for the last 4 episodes or so just about killed me.

I still do love the finale though... or the last 15 minutes anyway. I just watched it again last night. My only issue is with Tori. What a suckass character who got blessed with more than she deserved.

I decided to start watching the series over from the start after the finale on alloftv.net/.

It's interesting, 'cause I kinda figured the writers for BSG were really just making it up as the go along. However, it seems that they've actually touched on a lot of things that were revealed in the finale from very early on.

Hell, Chief thought he was a Cylon since the first season.

I'm not really sad it's ending, just "interested" to see how the end it.

Chief Tyrol thought he was a Cylon. I remember that as well. Until Baltar gave him his "test" and told him he was not.
#22 Jun 05 2007 at 3:14 PM Rating: Good
A lot of people accuse him of being a cylon, or question him, when Sharon V.1 was starting to come arund that she was a Cylon in S1.

Then, near the end of S2, but before the Cylon occupation of Caprica, he has a conversation with the "Brother" Cylon (before anyone knew that "Brother" was a Cylon) and in the psycoanalytical babble, it's revealed that Chief basicly beat the crap out of Cali because "he was a fraid he was a Cylon".

The Brother Cabal says "Don't worry, you're not a Cylon. Cause I'm a Cylon and I haven't seen you at any of the meetings".

(and Baltar never tests Chief Brill. Fracking n00b)

Ah ***** it I can't find it. But do you remember when Tyrol kept having those dreams and Cally woke him up and he beat her to a pulp? He had to go talk to the guy from Quantum Leap and he said he thought he was a Cylon. As a result he got himself tested by Baltar. It may have been season 2, I'm not sure.Smiley: confused

Nu uh. Chief ran into another Brother Cabal when they were looking for the tomb of Athena, realised The Brother was a Cylon, and put a gun to his head.

Baltar stopped testing people in season one.

In fact, I think he only ever tested the "Boomer" version of Sharon.
