Awww, thanks BT! Smiley: inlove

Okay, off the catch a couple hours of sleep before he wakes up again. (Flea, I got a breastfeeding pic here too, don't make me post it!)

I'm SO SO SO SO glad to hear from you and to see a picture of your beautiful son!!! Seriously, he doesn't look like he was just born Sunday.

Speaking of which, my guess was May 27. When your water broke on the 22nd I really didn't mean for you to go THAT out of your way to let me win. I'm so sorry you had such a long ordeal, but I'm so freakin' relieved that you two are ok.

You had us worried there Ambrya.

He's beautiful. So glad both of you are well.

I'm assuming Mr Ambrya is still wandering around with that expression on his face that looks like Sean Connery trying to smile and frown at the same time.

We're both still quite stunned that he is so very perfect. Mr. Ambrya wasn't all that familiar with babies to begin with, but he knew enough to know that usually newborns are splotchy and not all that attractive, so he said he was a bit incredulous when he saw the baby for the first time, like, "you sure that's our kid?"

All things considered, we're doing amazingly well. The last two days we were basically blackmailed into prolonging our hospital stay as they were over-reacting to a mild case of jaundice due to the fact that my milk has been a little slow to come in and help him flush the bilirubin out of his system. I was certain their insistance that we supplement until my milk came in was going to torpedo our nursing relationship, but he's re-learning to latch much more smoothely than I would have thought possible. (He just finished a feeding in which we hardly struggled to get him latched on at all.)

Sorry you're bored, BT, but you're going to have to wait a day or two for the whole birth story. I was actually keeping a document of it from the time my labor started, but when things started to get intense on day 4, I stopped updating the memoir, so now I'm obviously quite behind. Since (given the length of the labor) it's going to be a tale roughly the length of "War and Peace" I will probably end up posting it to my journal and anyone who is interested can let me know so I can do whatever it is I need to do to allow them to access it.

Thanks again, everyone, for all your concern and good wishes for us. It's been a bit of a harrowing journey at times, but the support of the people I consider friends has meant a lot to all of us.

D'oh! Sorry Samira! If it's any consolation, I really had hoped your guess would be the winner after all, but things just didn't work out that way. 5 days of labor--oy!

Bloody Doctors Smiley: mad

I've lost count of the times I've heard mothers and midwives remind docs that childbirth is a natural part of life and not a medical condition. Of course, a C-section changes the laboUr part of things, but so long as the Mom is recoving well from surgery, the golden rule applies - Mother does know best.

Both of my kids were C-section, and on both occasions I had to argue with Doctors for Mrs Nobby's wishes to be taken into account. Sure, if there's a life-threatening condition, that's different, but a touch of jaundice is perfectly natural.

Anywho . . . Glad you're all home together.

And I'm so sorry to hear you had a C-section. Hopefully the fact that you're younger will mean you'll have less problems from it than I've had.

It's a harsh blow, but under the circumstances I suppose I can forgive you.

Congratulations, he's beautiful. The one benefit of a C-section, haha.

Actually, it's kinda funny--even though I was sectioned, he was born with a cone head, because prior to my section, I pushed for three hours, the last hour of which he was less than a centimeter away from crowning and just wouldn't come out. Ends up, his head was a bit asynclytic, or slightly tilted from the "normal" birth position (in addition to being sunny-side-up, little rascal!) and thus wasn't going to make it though my pelvis. But the cone went away pretty quickly.

Well, not sure how much of an age difference there is between us, but at 32 years old, six days after surgery, at the moment my condition ranges from "I've been beaten across the midriff with an aluminum baseball bat" to "There are tiny demons in my abdomen eating me from the inside out whenever I move." I can't regret anything that happened--I gave having a vaginal delivery everything I had, and the outcome is definitely more than worth it, but the idea that there are actually women out there who willingly ELECT to feel this way because they're "too posh to push" (I'm looking at YOU, Britney!) completely blows my mind.

Thanks again everyone for the grats and compliments. I may be biased, but I think he's a pretty handsome little man too.

Congratulations, Ambrya!

Your baby looks so cute. And handsome too. I was amazed with how smooth his face looked. Usually babies are all wrinkly and stuff, but I'm guessing there are some Asian genes in the pool? Ya, okay, I peeked at the other photos in your album.

Anyways, good job. Smiley: thumbsup

I was thinking you were in your 20's. Yeah, I had mine at 35. I'm 40 now, and it still hurts. =(

Yeah, this has also always blown my mind. Especially the women who elect to do it a second time. You'd think after the first time that would be enough.

Congrats to you and hubby on the beautiful baby boy.

The grandma of 2 c-section grandkids, orders you to get all the rest the little will allow you. Take the pain pills, he'll just sleep a little more between feedings, and won't be fussy, because mommy is in so much pain.

My daugther tried to go with natural birth both times, but ended up being wheel into the operating room. We had same problem with doctors wanting to keep my grandson a few extra days, but then he also was a tad early. He spent all his time away from mom, under the lights.
