I'm assuming Mr Ambrya is still wandering around with that expression on his face that looks like Sean Connery trying to smile and frown at the same time.
We're both still quite stunned that he is so very perfect. Mr. Ambrya wasn't all that familiar with babies to begin with, but he knew enough to know that usually newborns are splotchy and not all that attractive, so he said he was a bit incredulous when he saw the baby for the first time, like, "you sure that's our kid?"
All things considered, we're doing amazingly well. The last two days we were basically blackmailed into prolonging our hospital stay as they were over-reacting to a mild case of jaundice due to the fact that my milk has been a little slow to come in and help him flush the bilirubin out of his system. I was certain their insistance that we supplement until my milk came in was going to torpedo our nursing relationship, but he's re-learning to latch much more smoothely than I would have thought possible. (He just finished a feeding in which we hardly struggled to get him latched on at all.)
Sorry you're bored, BT, but you're going to have to wait a day or two for the whole birth story. I was actually keeping a document of it from the time my labor started, but when things started to get intense on day 4, I stopped updating the memoir, so now I'm obviously quite behind. Since (given the length of the labor) it's going to be a tale roughly the length of "War and Peace" I will probably end up posting it to my journal and anyone who is interested can let me know so I can do whatever it is I need to do to allow them to access it.
Thanks again, everyone, for all your concern and good wishes for us. It's been a bit of a harrowing journey at times, but the support of the people I consider friends has meant a lot to all of us.
