At work today, we had the end-of-the-year banquet for a local highschool music program. It started off with the usual buffet dinner, the announcements, and the endless awards. However, after all that, one of the students played DJ on his laptop while the others gathered on the dance floor and.... stood around talking.

I remember those days well. The girls want the boys to ask them to dance, but the boys are too scared to ask the girls, usually because the girls are taller than the boys.

Anywho, it got me to thinking that, if I could be in highschool knowing what I know now, I'd be a freaking pimp on wheels. I'd have none of that shyness, no shame, and I'd be out there asking girls to dance like I was getting paid.

Then I started thinking about all the things in my life that I'd do differently knowing what I know now, namely choosing another major when I first started college.

What about you?

I'd have been less of a pimp.

Then I wouldnt have flirted with that brunette who ended up sitting on my lap with her top half off just as my highschool sweetheart walked in. Then the sweetheart wouldnt have had jealously sex that guy that turned out to be a crackhead and ended up getting her preggers.

Well I sure as **** wouldn't have started out in aerospace engineering right before three airplanes became the most well known IED's on the face of the planet.

Sure, but you'd have to hang out with teenagers, man. They're so bloody maudlin and erratic. And the things I thought were hysterical when I was 15, well, just really aren't.

This was a High School dance? Ours weren't like that, maybe in Junior High.

As for things done differently, I would have broadened my views on what constitued a pretty girl. I was far too picky in High School, looking back I passed up on quite a few cute ones.

I'm still quite young, but, I wish I had actually prepared for my A-levels. Oh and I wish I had been a bit nicer to some of the girls that "liked" me.

If I could do high school over, I would have gone to class, learned something and taken advantage of the opportunites that were presented to me.

...I pretty much blew HS off scholastically.

No regrets on the social end of things though. I had a blast. Smiley: wink

Selected a different major, for sure. Also, I could have done much better academically in high school than I did. I got into college based on my high ACT/SAT scores; I pretty much blew off the high school classes themselves.

Relationship-wise, I'm happy where I'm at so I'm not sure what I'd change. I don't know if I subscribe to the A Sound of Thunder theory of time travel but it does seem that dating the proverbial Little Red-Haired Girl for five years rather than just pining for her from afar would mess up my impending marriage Smiley: wink2

Oh, and buy a lot of tech stocks in 1994. And sell them in 1999.

I'd say I would have saved more money, but going to Disney World three years in a row was REALLY fun.

I like looking back to remember people I loved, but living in the past is for sissy ******** You've got to love your life today, now, just in case you get hit by a semi on the way home.

There are times when I look back and would like to change how things. Then I realize I wouldn't be the person I am today if those things would have been different. It's hard to say if things would have been better or worse than they are now. Just different.

If things had gone differently, and you weren't exactly the same person that you are today, are you still you, or somebody else?
