I'd finished my Steak & Ale Pie and saw him in a seat in a corner. I wondered whether to say anything and decided 'fUck it' - He was a hero.

I apologised for interrupting his Pint and said that his Starsky & Hutch years were an important part of my formative years, but pointed out that at 13, I hated him for being the reason Karen Hemmings Dumped me.

He laughed and asked if I wanted an autograph or photo.

I said no thanks, but that I was was a tad starstruck and was likely to brag to my friends that I'd met him. He asked if I fancied a pint. (Stoopid question).

We then spent 20 minutes comparing notes about cars, girls, guitars and global-warming.

Right now, I have a fantasy about meeting my 13 year-old self and sharing the story.
