Another song is the classic, Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. I think any song, movie, or tv show that has a story about a father and son (i.e., Field of Dreams) gets me every time. My parents divorced when I was about 2 or 3 years old. Luckily, I have a great relationship with my dad, but it's too bad we never had as much time as we probably would have had.

I also have father issues, compounded by the fact that the last family vacation we ever went on we actually went to the field of dreams in Iowa. That movie kills me.

In addition to this pathetic condition wherein I cry thinking of my damaged paternal bond, I am a sucker for Jackie Wilson.

Finally, my other Achille's heel emotionally is anything about animals. Some shows on Animal Planet like Adoption Tales and Divine Canine, or The Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. I can't really stand to watch the even more heart-breaking stories of inhumane neglect and abuse or medical issues on shows like Animal Precinct, Animal Cops, or E-Vet Interns but sometimes I get caught up watching them anyhoo.

Oh gawd, these shows kick my ass. To see some of the poor dogs with embeded collars or dogs who have been left in the basement of a New York City building without food for so long they resorted to eating a boot (I actually saw the x-ray on that episode. No shit, a fucking boot.) just hits me hard. Then at the end when they show the animals recovered and looking for homes I always say to myself "I'll take them all."

Fucking hell I'm a *****.

I'm one of those guys that is way more sensitive than I'd ever let on in real life. I've barely held back tears at a ton of movies. Some of the movies I've welled up while watching:

* Armageddon - The part where they arrive back on earth. Something about the "hero's welcome home" scenario makes me all mushy.
* City of Angels - When Meg Ryan's character dies..
* Untamed heart - When the guy with the "baboon heart" dies.
* Charlotte's Web (2006) - Yep. Cried.
* LoTR (Return of the King) - The entire end of the movie from the scene where the king is reunited with Arwen to Frodo's goodbye.

However, I can't honestly recall a song that's ever made me cry. The only 2 that would ever come close are:

* One Headlight by the Wallflowers - Something about associating it with some of the best moments enjoyed with the first girl I ever really loved (BDF.. <3 forever)
* From This Moment by Shania Twain with Bryan White - Wedding song for me and my now ex- wife.

I may sound like a big **** for this, but I got misty eyed watching Brokeback Mountain, of course one of my friends sitting next to me balling her eyes out may have been why I got misty eyed as well but, once you get past the OMG two **** doing it squeemishness, the movie is actually pretty good.

Let it Be, the climaxes of Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, The Boxer (wow, I'm a sucker for Simon and Garfunkel apparently).

Re: Gitslayer: The theme from Brokeback Mountain gets to me, as I was playing it on my guitar the day we put our dog to sleep.

The end of Friday Night Lights, when the father puts his championship ring on his son's finger. Although when I watched that one a second time, nothin'.

Sleepless in Seattle and Voices from a Distant Star tend to make me feel sad, movie-wise.

I tend to hold up fairly well during movies, and if it starts to get overly emotional or whatnot, I start to find it funny since the actors/producers pushed the film or TV series abit too far for my tastes to be belivable.

That one doesn't choke me up, it just gives me the chills.

Ahh, yes, same here. That book used to get me all the time. The aftermath of the Apocalyptic Rockfight is another part.

Hmm, I don't remember the aftermath of the Apocolyptic Rockfight being sniffle-worthy, but maybe I'm forgetting something.

Also "Leader of the Band" and "Same Auld Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelberg usually get me. Ditto to whomever mentioned "Cat's in the Cradle" too.

Yesterday when I went out to eat with my fiancé I overheard part of a conversation, ridiculing some guy who just admitted he stayed up till 3am, drinking and watching Brokeback Mountain.

Sounds a lot healthier than the route I took to deal with such issues. The wife says I'm insane as I am intelligent.

That damned dog food commercial from a while back when the company was donating a percentage to some shelter organization. It showed the dogs in cages with a voice over along the lines of "I know how to catch. I know how to sit. I know how to be good ... But I don't know why I'm here."

Anyone who was unmoved by it was a soulless monster from Monstervania wearing monstery monster pants.

"Ding Dong the Witch is Dead"

It was a long running family joke that we would play that at my grandmother's memorial. We played it because her sense of humor was well known and we know she would have loved it.

Also...

I find both of these incredibly depressing (you have to watch Kiwi until the end, or else it just seems comical).

Ugh Nadenu, Losing Isaiah is a killer. I barely saw the ending cause I couldn't see through the tears. I don't even want to know how I'd react now that I have kids.

I cry in a crapload of movies, but ones of note are:

What Dreams May Come (seriously the most depressing movie I have ever seen)
Romeo + Juliet (in high school I sobbed the entire 20 minute drive home)
Ghost - when Demi finally sees Sam I just lose it
Joy Luck Club
Legends of the Fall

Short list of books that made me cry:

Where the Red Fern Grows
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Kite Runner - everyone I loan it to gives it back to me saying, "Did you cry when...?"

I have Brokeback saved on the TiVo, been meaning to watch it for a while. I better do it soon, I think hubby doesn't like seeing it on the list, lol.

I've sobbed through more movies, but those 5 were the only ones that I can think of for now.
