yep, they are all pretty much the same. whack-a-mole for levels and loot.
you will like the more relaxed pace of WoW over EQ. wont need a group or raid to complete most of the quests. plenty of places to go too. the graphics take a bit to get used too, but you forget about them in time. the leveling pace is much faster too,
some things you will miss. like a lack of any type of stratagy on groups. poor class definitions. tank, healer, everything else is dps. but atleast the world os occupied at almost any level, something you dont find in EQ anywhere except the very top.
but basically, all the same. whack-a-mole.
when you tire of WoW, give Vanguard a try. the classes are better defined, and there is some stratagy for groups, ie, mobs that try to run, pulling stratagy, cc, but very group orientated. problem is, no one seems to be grouping once you hit 30. anywhere. but a blast till 30 with some of the most stunning graphics you have ever seen in any game. the necromancer in Vanguard is sooo much more fun to play than the warlock in WoW. i have played them both, my warlock was 51 when i stoped WoW. you ave fear kiting, a weak mez, FD, life taps worth casting, lifetap dots, and an awsome mean looking pet, plus the ability to raise other temporary pets of various sorts. they took EQ,s necro to the next level IMO.
LOTR? mabe. after WoW and vanguard. just not a whole lot there compared to the other 2, and the graphics are a bit more kiddieish than WoW even. mambe if you HAVE to play and just cant bring yourself to log on to WoW, Vanguard or EQ2 anymore. but its there if you want something new.
warhammer is coming out soon. in beta now. it is pvp orientated, so probably wont last very long, but the first 20 levels in any new game are the best, especially at launch.
the next biggie will probably be the number one game at E3 last year, Gods and Heros. but have a while for that one to launch.
enjoy. life is good. have many more choices now.
