In a world gone mad...a Chinese high school student in Fort Bend Texas is arrested and then forced to attend an alternative education center when parents discover he has created a Counterstrike level based off of Clements High School for he and his friends to play on. The student had his home searched for weapons, was detained until it was determined no charges could be filed, and is now unable to graduate with his peers, all because of his mapmaking skills.

Oh wait, it was completely founded. He had swords. Thank god we stopped him before he went medieval.

It's amusing how outrageously people react to the most recent shiny object they've seen. Until something else shiny comes along and they completely forget about it.

At one point in my life, I almost made a Doom wad that contained a map of the bulding I worked in. Figured it'd be fun for my friends and coworkers...

I'm sure he thought the same.

After I saw this here, I posted it in a counter-strike forum open-discussion forum that I somtimes read. Just soo ridiculous.

Funny thing is, the map was probably quite poorly made.

unfortunatly, this is the world we have to live in now.

just like making a joke about a bomb, things like this are taboo now. fun or not, it just can not be accepted anymore.

god forbid some cops saw this, and played it and had a blast playing, and the guy who made it DID go psyco and killed a bunch of people. instead of writing here about how silly and overboard the cops went, we would be venting at why they saw this and did nothing about it, wouldnt we?

this is the post 911 world. somethings are going to be scrutinized now that were not before. and they HAVE to go overboard. the penalty for not doing enough is too great to ignore now.

the cops did the right thing. they did everything in their power to protect innocent people from a percieved threat, which is exactly what we need them to do in this post 911 america.

the kid learned the hard way what is acceptable, and what is not anymore. personally, im sad to see this happen, but i would be even sadder to see another school shooting.

welcome to the new america.

Hell, I modeled my own high school in Quake, though this was a few years after the school and I had parted ways.

"post 911 world" -.-;
Edit: This is giving terrorists exactly what they want. America to turtle up and bite out at anything that even remotely could be conceived as "Terrorist Activity." Why doesn't the US just give the terrorists a big F U and if they do anything more, dont take it and actually retaliate?

The student, whose name has not been released, was not arrested or charged by FBISD police, however, he was removed from Clements and transferred to M.R. Wood Alternative Education Center several days ago. Officials said he also complied with a police order to delete the game and game maps from his computer.

****. I hadn't heard this part before. Ok, the school board is just a bunch of pseudo-elected ******* parents that don't really know any better - what they did I can understand. But what possible justification do the police have for giving an order like this? What basis do they have for violating his rights this way?

Wow. Thats pretty ****** up about deleting the game and map...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

retaliate against who exactly? and where? which is exactly the problem we are facing in Iraq. the same problem we faced in vietnam. the same problem we forced on the ruskies in afganistan.

you want to know why Israel has NEVER had one of their planes flown into one of their buildings? because they didnt do what you suggest. ignore it till it hitsd you then give themn a smack down. they understood no one is going to be standing up wearing a uniform that said "terrorist" on the back, waiting around for a smack down.

there is no door between the cabin and the cockpit in an air israel plane. the pilots enter through as seperate door in teh outside of the plane....for exactly the same reason we faced in 9-11.

we HAVE to adapt to their threat, or continue to let them kill us at will and leave no one behind for us to smack down.

you can not intimidate someone willing to die to kill you. you can keep smacking them down....if you can identfy them.....but you can not intimidate them into stopping.

you must adapt to protect ourselves. which is exactly what these cops did. to do otherwise in this day and age would be negligance.

the new america. enjoy.

the only real way to beat terrorism is to address the CAUSE of terrorism and or adapt to the potential threat of terrorism. anything else, like this mess in Iraq for instance, is just playing in THEIR playground. feeding them fuel for their fire.

Israel doesn't have planes running into their buildings, just people who have nothing left to lose after israel took everything away. Way to go on your failed analogy.

Why are you talking about terrorism? This doesn't fall under the category of terrorism, just the category of potential psychotic mass homicides. I realize I put the word "terror" in my title, but that was a joke...

In all fairness, if I was a terrorist, I'd be more origional than to hijack planes again. I find repeating myself terribly boring and annoying.

You wouldn't actually be repeating yourself so much as imitating others.

That's the good thing about being a suicide-bomber. No Encore, no "Best of", no chance of your act getting stale, no getting pigeon-holed.

It's a one in a lifetime performance, and you get plenty of ***** at the end of it all.

It's just like being a rock star, without the growing old bit.
