My wife and I are amicably splitting up.

We had been going to counseling for a little while. I had hoped we would continue to work on and possibly save the marriage as I thought it was the right thing to do. Yet deep down, I had to admit to myself that I've been unhappy about some things in our relationship that could not be resolved. I knew in my heart that I would probably be happier in the long run being out of this marriage and making a fresh start.

However, my wife didn't want to be married anymore nor was she willing to put in the effort that it takes to work on a marriage. Since it takes two to make it work, I agreed with her that we should end the marriage, but keep our friendship.

Despite a few setbacks that we overcame, we had a very good marriage. I have the peace of mind knowing that I did every thing I could to keep the marriage alive and I tried to be a great husband. I'm grateful for the wonderful aspects of the relationship and glad we are going to maintain a friendship.

Anyhoo, it's best for the both of us. Not sure where I'll end up, but for now, I'll be staying put on the west coast. It is a possibility that I may move back east to be near family and friends at some point, but things are up in the air for now.

Sorry to hear that, but at least you can walk away with your head held high, which (though you won't likely want to hear it), will help you run into a hawt woman, who will rock your world.

The eternal optimist I am, I will offer this truism based upon my experience: Some of the best sex is with ex's.

And even though extending well-wishes and sympathy makes me feel at odds with myself, best of luck to you and like I said the other night, if you want to come up to Oregon and drown your cares away for a weekend I'll make up a room for you in the barn.

Agreed. This is where BT is different from normal folks. (Okay, okay, it's the point of departure.) He sees misery as grist for the creative mill.

Sorry to hear that, Smoggy.

However, as the silver lining, maybe this will free up your schedule enough for a Chicago trip in August!

ZOMG?! What are you going to do about your raid guild?

Ok, even though I think you're a complete tool, your wife has to be some sort of nerdy fat chick with too much pubic hair. And that means that even going gay would be a step up for you. So, if you follow my logic here....you're a ****. Congrats.

Agreed, and maybe you'll hook up with someone from the board (if there are any single females going?) All the cool kids are doing it.

Simply not true. I'm just talented and capable of compartmentalizing my "feelings" apart from my predisposition to further my genes. I do sometimes cry when the vehicle of my gene-advancement ends up on a pillow-case or her stomach, though, but that's the risk of participating in casual sex with women you don't love.

Well you didn't mention anything so I'm guessing there aren't any ickle binkies to suffer this departure. That's good at least, though it is too bad that it can't work out anymore.

That sucks Snorre, but at least you two are parting on good terms.

I can't say I've been where you are, so all I can say is 'Good luck'.

Booty call has been jokingly offered, at least until we are officially separated/divorced (and depending if I'm available). Probably won't happen though.

Sucks man.

One of the fellas at work got seperated/divorced last year. He was pretty bummed for a few months, and I felt bad for him. After a bit he snapped out of it and now he's dangling 3 different women at once and getting more punani in the last year than I've seen in the last 5.

I don't feel sorry for him anymore. With any luck, I won't be feeling sorry for you either. Go buy yourself a new black book, and start getting prepared to get back in the game again.
