I've been waiting for someone to make one, but since no one did, here it is...

SPOILERS

Loved the episode last night, one of the best ever imo. I didn't see the Sylar thing coming at all and so me and hubby did simultaneous "ohhhhh"s when he revealed himself. Based on Hiro finding Isaac dead shortly before the bomb, I'm assuming Peter explodes sometime in the finale. (unless they're stupid enough to have a Lost-ish season 1 ending)

I didn't have a chance to go back and watch, but who in the future had Isaac's last comic? Was it Future Hiro? What was the page that Future Hiro had in his pocket? Was it his death?

Hubby thought the showdown between Peter and Sylar was cheesy, but I totally loved it. Reminded me a bit of when Vader and Obiwan draw their light sabers in Star Wars.

I'm confused though, are Future Hiro's instructions to "Save the cheerleader, save the world" wrong? Apparently he isn't even aware that Claire is alive in the future, so how does he know saving her will save the world? Has Claire simply been underutilized by her father in order to protect her?

Just watched it today on my TiVo. Yeah, the Syler thing was a neat twist. I'm thinking the whole explosion thing won't happen, because Hiro knows what he must do now. It's very awesome Heroes goodness. Looking forward to next week!

Hiro is supposed to stop Sylar, not Peter, and they establish that Peter is the exploding man responsible for the bomb. I think the bomb happens no matter what and saving the world is about stopping Sylar from entering the Oval Office.

I caught the Sylar thing about half way through, watch it again you'll see it. The the showdown between Peter and Sylar gave me goosebumps, very well done IMO.

I don't think so.

By saving her he took the regeneration powers away from Sylar thus making him killable by sword the day Peter explodes.

The way I see it Hiro went back to tell Peter and then past Hiro popped in. I assume all this happened in somewhat the same time period.

Ah ok, that makes sense, about how saving her will keep him from regenerating.

Thoughts on the little girl next week?

Also, who is Candace? Is that the shape shifting woman that fooled Bennett? Sylar mentions Candace makes it possible for him to become President.

The woman we see with Bennett in the future, is that Wireless girl?

Yes and yes.

There are very few "loose ends" left, IMO. All that's left is to watch it play out. The only possible change involves the little girl... and for that we just have to wait and see.

I really, really, really hope they don't string this show out like they do with certain other show, such as Lost. If it ends this season, I'd be content... it was awesome while it lasted, don't make it Lost v2.

I have no more theories to add to any of yours, but just wanted to say that I loved this episode. Is it Monday yet? The fight with Syler and Peter literally had me on the edge of the couch. I wish we could have seen more of it. And when the Dr. stabbed the Haitian, I felt like jumping up and shouting, haha.

Nerd. (me, that is)

Anyone else notice Hiro now has the wrong sword. He took the future hiros sword, since his sword was taken away.

What worries me is if future sylar defeats future peter he will take peters powers which includes the ability to time travel. He might travel back in time and go after hiro. Hiro might do battle with future sylar in the present, not present sylar.

Best episode yet.

Too bad it was kinda an "out of continuity" story that has little bearing on the actual plot >.<

Well, except "present day" Hiro now knows that he'll grow up to not be such a *****.

I'm really liking this show, but this episode annoyed me. Any fan of comics will recognize the pattern from the X-Men Days of Future Past storyline. It was all there; killing established characters in a timeline that never happens, unexpected character loyalties, all the banal, hackneyed plot devices that have been around for centuries. The Sylar reveal was painfully obvious to me. The Ando death reveal was obvious to me. There was nothing about that episode that had me praising the writers.

All that said, I can't stop watching. I'm like a compulsive sex addict. I hate myself for watching but I can't say no. I want to go home alone, but some how Hiro and the gang follow to my room and have their way with me.

I need a shower.

No the future sword could disapear if Hiro changesthe future. Then he would have to wait 5 years to find the present day sword.

Wouldn't that mean he completely loses the sword because if he does change the future, he won't have that specific future to go back to in order to retrieve the sword.

Ahhhh, I hate time travel crap!!

I don't think so.

By saving her he took the regeneration powers away from Sylar thus making him killable by sword the day Peter explodes.

Actually, I think Pikko is correct. Hiro *thinks* that by saving the cheerleader they'll save the world. But that's based on his examination of events and his conclusion that he was unable to kill Sylar because Sylar had killed Claire and obtained her regeneration abilities.

However, in that same future timeline Claire was still alive. Thus, Sylar didn't actualy take her regeneration abilities from her in that past anymore then he did in the "altered path" that the current storyline is following. He clearly had a need to kill her to take her power cause he does it in the actual episode (but years after Hiro thought he'd already done so).

Thus, the statement "save the cheerleader, save the world" was wrong.

There's a few possibilities left by that (and I've been kinda puzzling over them for the last couple days, so here's my ideas):

1. Hiro was just plain wrong. Sylar was able to survive his attack for some other reason, but he thought it was because he'd stolen regeneration from Claire. This would explain some parts of it, but still seems "odd". Afterall, you'd think he'd notice why Sylar didn't die. Maybe he didn't though. Who knows? Clearly Sylar still wanted Claire's regeneration power, so it's not like he got full regeneration from someone else who happened to have the same power and Hiro just thought it was Claire. Not sure what could have accounted for this. It may be that Sylar is just a bit harder to kill then most (afterall he supposedly survived getting shot early on).

2. Hiro was correct. However, when he time traveled back to warn Peter, he "broke" something in time. When he traveled back to the future, he actually traveled back to the altered future, not the one he originally was in (think "Back to the Future" timetravel explanation for this one). However, enough of the same events occured that he didn't notice (perhaps it's harder to change the course of time then one might think).

This one's a bit of a stretch, but it matches all the facts (kinda). Afterall, there's no other explanation for why Mohinder remembered Peter telling him that Hiro had told him "save the cheerleader, save the world". Thus, the timeline we saw could not have been the original one, but was the changed one (the one we're following in the main story).

In Hiro1's timeline he failed to kill Sylar because Sylar had killed Claire and gained her regeneration. By warning Peter he sets in motion a series of events that results in Hiro2 coming to the future and experiencing those events (but he's in the same future as Hiro1). Hiro2 then will have to try to kill Sylar, but apparently will fail (for some reason we don't yet know). What happens from there is unclear but will result in the future we saw if some other change does not occur.

Interestingly enough, it's quite possible that Hiro1's changes made things *worse*, not better. We don't know exactly what his future was like. But maybe it really was Sylar who originally exploded in New York, not Peter. While that was "bad", and resulted in Nathan becoming president and the current state of authoritarian regime he installed, maybe it really was Nathan in that future? Perhaps as a result of Hiro1's time trip, he changed several other things. Claire lives, but Sylar obtains other powers instead. Also, remember that because of his warning, Peter, Hiro2, and Issac all *knew* what was happening, presumably earlier then they would have otherwise. There's a whole slew of changed actions as a result of this (and that's not counting what Bennet has done differently, which in turn affects both the telepath cop and the nuclear guy).

Those changes could set in motion things that result in Peter being the one to explode instead of Sylar. It's interesting to note that Peter does not begin to have his visions of exploding until *immediately* after saving the cheerleader.

Dunno if that makes any sense, but the more I look at some of the actions that occured (and some of the statements made in the last episode), the more I believe that this makes sense. Another interesting point of note is that Hiro2 originally went forward in time a few months and saw the city explode. However, when he found Issac dead in that line, Issac looked like his body had been frozen (and the head cut open). Yet, they revealed Issac's death last week and it didn't happen exactly the same way. Sylar has different powers in this line because he's taken different actions (all because of the intervention of Peter at the High School).

Hiro2 made that time trip *before* Hiro1 showed up and warned Peter to "save the cheerleader, save the world", so it may be that that was a glimpse at the first original timeline (the one Hiro1 was from).

There was one thing that did bug me about the episode though. It's a minor thing, but it seemed a bit silly. While the fight between Peter and Sylar was kinda cool (although they didn't show any of it really), I'm not sure why it would happen that way. Peter has the ability to freeze time. Why the heck is he standing there trading blasts of energy or whatever with Sylar? Freeze time. Blow Sylar into tiny little pieces. Scatter them all over the planet. Done. Maybe he can regenerate from that, but probably not. The combat should have taken exactly zero time and Peter should have absolutely whupped Sylar's butt (again, unless Sylar has some ability to defend himself from time freezing of course).

It's a minor nit, but it would have helped if there'd been some explanation as to why Peter couldn't do that.

It's definately interesting. I just hope that they've actually thought the whole time travel stuff out instead of just winging it and making up explanations as they go along. Seen that too many times in past TV shows and films.
