It's cause I was wearing my lucky Redsox hat yesterday, seriously! We were watching the game, and the Yankees were ahead by two, and I said, "OH NO! I forgot my hat!" SO, I ran upstairs and got it (and by ran, I mean, leisurely wandered) and put my hat on. Then, four homeruns in a row, no kidding. Boyfriend was laughing his *** off every time and saying things like, "Three homerun in a row, you won't see that again! You'll be expecting this every time now!" Then they hit another one, hahahaha.

Hooray for lucky hats!

Even though I did a dance of joy because the Sox swept the Yanks, I still need to remember it is only April and there is a lot more ball to play.

I watched all the games, and they'd be behind, and I'd go bang my head against a wall or something and come back and they'd be winning.

The brain damage is well worth it.

The Twins are basically the best AAA team out there; they groom talent for teams like the BoSox and the Yankees.

Hey thanks again for not signing David Ortiz for $400,000 a year, by the way.

Oh, I don't know. The Schilling money will be freed up by then. Santana, DiceK, Becket doesn't sound too terrible.

How can you hate the Red Sox??? We paid like 5 billion dollars for one World Series in 90 years, when the Yankees win, they just throw the trophy on the pile of dead babies they extract HGH from.

While I do root for the Sox against the Yankees, that's where it ends, and here's why:

Minnesota payroll: $63,396,006

Boston Players:
Ramirez, Manny
$18,279,238
Schilling, Curt $13,000,000
Varitek, Jason $10,000,000
Drew, JD This fUcking guy is making like $11,000,000 this year. That's just nuts for a guy who will be on the DL by June.

I can't even find a number for Dice-K, because apparently it's impossible to numerically represent a fUckton of cash. I mean, they paid fifty million dollars just to buy negotiating rights with the guy. To raise that kind of cash Minnesota would have to sell Duluth to Wisconsin or pimp Bemidji to Canada.

So you go right ahead and feel good about being the lesser of two evils, but I'll continue to sit here on my throne of righteous indignation and damn the rich teams to hell. My throne is made of old milk cartons, by the way, because we can't afford anything better.

One, that's like 6 Florida payrolls.

Two, that's less a small market thing and more having a billionaire owner who has no interest in winning. Maybe he'll get a working deal to move the team to Raleigh-Durham in another few years. We have a similar situation here with the Bruins. I wish they'd just move to Mosejaw or something. Although that would make it far less convenient to see a few Leafs games each year.

He's only making 6M this year, but I'm pretty certain that if we win the Series his incentive contract dictates that he's awarded a small territorial island near Singapore. Also you forgot Ortiz at 12M.

The look of dejection on the faces of the Yankees fans who returned to my hotel from Fenway after the game last night completely made my day.

The "In your face 4 Home Runs!" by the gentlemen from Toronto returning tonight made me set multiple wake up calls throughout the night to his room.

I probobly shouldn't have, but the power of Dice-K compelled me.

Thankfully this won't be happening. The Twins got their new stadium, although I think it's sort of nuts to not include at least a retractable roof.

Quote:

That's unfair. The Marlins don't have to pay a designated hitter.

As far as the small-market/large-market argument, it's a valid one until there's a real salary cap in baseball. While teams like the Twins and Marlins make great use of their farm systems they acn't compete once those players become free-agents and even more importantly they can't afford to plug the holes and reload each year with big name or even upper-echelon journeymen players like the Yanks and BoSox can.

I'm not arguing for a salary cap, though, because even though the parity in the NFL makes for excitement and unpredictability, I rather enjoy rooting for David versus Goliath year in and year out. Even if most of the time Goliath pounds David like a kid-toucher in prison.

Oh, and the last time I cried was when Kirby Puckett died. If the Twins got moved out of Minnesota I'd steal Ted Williams' head and skull-fUck it till he thawed out, just on principle.
