Money is money, it's not like they can track it. You can probably buy a gun with welfare money. I'd wager that most people spend it on bills.

Unfortunately, this isn't always the case. I worked with a friend at a "volunteer" bingo hall a few times, and one of the regulars was a woman with 8 children who spent almost her entire welfare check on gambling of some sort.

You know, that whole "I need money, so I'm going to by 100 lottery tickets and hope that one is a winner" mentality. Personally, I think it was best said as, "the best way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it in your pocket."

That woman recklessly spending her money rather than saving it has probably done more for the economy than your fiscally tight *** ever has! Plus she puts out (8 kids) so double props.

Yes, unfortunately a few people take advantage of the system. More unfortunately is that the few people who do are noticed by folks who then tell everyone about it and it becomes generalized to the entire population so that voters can feel good about not wanting to spend money on a bunch of money grubbing sluts. The reality is that the majority of people on welfare use it for its intended purpose and don't want to be on it forever. I've worked with tons of moms on welfare that were involved with the Parents As Scholars program and working their asses off to get through college and get off welfare and taking care of their babies while they did it.

/nod I have one friend who's been on public assistance and he's trying his damnedest to get off public assistance. But he's finding that he nets more with public assistance than actually getting a job and having to pay his expenses.

You mean some welfare moms have gambling and addiction problems?

Huh. They're just like real people in so many ways.

LOL that's like saying a couple of mexicans cross the border every year. You liberals have created social dependence reap what you sow.

Varus

Even if some absurd percentage, like half, took all their welfare money and put it on black, I'd still keep the program since 50% would still be feeding babies with the money.

/shrug

I'm not bitter and angry and in love with being miserable and hateful though.

Actually you are all of those things. Most responsible adults realize you never get something for nothing and this is exactly what you're doing to these people. You're conflicted about how you will be perceived by others and what you know to be true on the inside.

Oh that's right you ramble incessantly and give credit for the greatness of this country to illiterate welfare babies rather than the capitalists that make the economy go.

What about the welfare babies that end up with college degrees?

I'd call it the predictable dismissive attitude of someone who recognizes that no amount of discussion is going to make any difference to a close-minded, self-righteous, half-wit.
