Speaking as one who lives a quarter mile from the Del Mar coastline (not so much a beach really), let me respond:

Cool breezes during the day make even hot days comfortable. I have no need of air conditioning. Marine layer keeps it from getting too cold at night even in the dead of winter.
Ironically, 'eternal spring' climates such as those in San Diego, parts of Andean Peru and other places are expected to be the first places seriously affected by global climate change. The unique sets of conditions which make those places what they are are much more fragile than standard temperate climates and like areas which experience regular temperature swings.

Yet oddly, I'm not worried about Global Warming. While the guy who lives in Chicago, where global warming could perhaps do some good, is.

Now *that's* ironic...

Yep, warming could do Chicago some good.

Hah! Actually, I have been to Chicago once in my life. In mid june, but close enough...

Um. You are aware that the global warming model assumes that increased CO2 levels trap heat. It does not increase it. Thus, the highs don't get much higher, the lows increase a bit, and the average over each day is increased (due to staying warmer for longer). It's a common misconception that it will simply make everything "hotter". The measurement is about average daily global temperature increases, not record highs in any one location.

Your winters will be more mild. Your summers will be just as warm, but the length of warmth will last longer into the evening. Again. That's assuming that the global warming models are correct. But then if they aren't, then there's no point in having the conversation in the first place...

Smiley: rolleyes

Wait, I can play the "you are aware.." game too! Okay? Go!

"Ummm... you are aware that 'global warming' is really a laymen's term for global climate change which includes such things as shifting weather fronts and both summer & winter drought, right? It's common misconception that it's only speaking about warming and that leads people to say dumb things like 'But the winters will be nicer!'"

Did I do it right??

Please tell me I don't have to spell out what this means re: summer in July...

He speaks like a man who not only has no clue what he's talking about but who also hasn't hung around Chicago during a winter drought.
