True, but it's also usually too fucking cold to go out and shoot someone. Let's say you're all ad and want to kill someone. You need to go out, shovel your driveway and wait for the car to warm up. At this point you have time to re-evaluate if it's really worth doing right now or if it can wait until it warms up a bit.

In the US, it's always hot so you don't get that moment of clear thinking after getting upset enough to kill. Also, 99% of gun deaths in Canada are gang related either in Toronto (Jamacian) or in Vancouver (Chinese). The rest get attributed to the Hells Angels.

So the real issue is global warming then.
Yes, and we know that the US supports global warming because it fuels the war machine. Everything comes full circle!

Smiley: tinfoilhat

Fools! Don't you see it? Global Warming is just a front for the real issues: Gays, Femenists, and non-Christians!

Yes! And once again, it proves my point. The Monarchy in the UK has changed a hell of a lot since Henry VIII, Victoria, or Elizabeth.

Though not enough for my liking, to be perfectly honest. There a few heads that should've been chopped along the way, but there's always time for that Smiley: sly

Hey, the Democracy in the US has changed a lot since we became a country! Not in many particularly good ways, but dammit it's changed!

Ok. So let me get this straight. Kid walks into a college and starts shooting people...He manages to shoot 60 some odd people, even STOPS TO RELOAD, and instead of jumping on the guy while he's reloading they shut the door and stand behind it...

These kids need more videogames.

Yes, but he walked out into the hall to reload. He obviously wasn't that prepared.

Au contraire. He had his ammo in a vest that he was wearing under his jacket. I'm thinking he didn't want folks to see he had extra ammo lest they try to take it before he was done.

I'm thinking he had lots of extra ammo but only 1 magazine. Takes a bit to fill a magazine.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." I always viewed this as stressing the importance of a military itself to protect the sovereignty of the nation (as it was writing in a time when the nation had virtually no organized army) as opposed to the common belief that there is a natural right to have guns.

I am sorry for the loss of friends and familiy.

Taking a moment off from being an grumpy old cUnt:

I've just watched a moving, passionate, eloquen and inspirational speech by a middle aged African American woman at the convocation at VT (I think her name is Nikki Giovanni). It mixed defiance with hope in such a sincere and striking way.

One to watch for on the evening news: the most impressive piece of oratory I've heard in years.

Now back to the diCk/fart jokes.

What do a cartoon tiger and a guy from Lost have to do with anything?

Regarding the arguments about Gun Control:

I'm not stupid enough to think any Gun Laws would have made a difference here or in Columbine.

I'm relieved we don't have US gun laws here in UK, but the bigger difference is in the culture, not the legislation.

Behind the NRA rants is an innate lack of Trust in the state/Gub'ment. Most of the real arguments against gun control are based on an unwillingness to allow background checks (Sure, not 'the' reason, but an underpinning one).

Here in the UK (as I suspect is the case in Canada), there's an acceptance of legitimate scrutiny that is widely rejected in Dubyaland.

I'm afraid Chuck Heston won the argument long ago, and reference to the constitution is apocryphal and a red herring

Horse, Stable Door. Yadda yadda.

There is a gun culture across swathes of the USA that must be managed over time, and I don't see how any legislation would achieve anything more than inflaming the Smiley: tinfoilhat brigade and entrenching the views of folks who want liberty without accountability.

Hmm. "liberty without accountability". Have I stumbled on the motto of middle America?

Well, that is where the Second Amendment came from.

It's the Brits' fault, really.

Were he still alive, Billy WaggleDagger would be Shitting himself.

Hey Smash. After Nikki Giovanni's amazing speech I checked out her poetry. I have to concede that there are still truly great Americans. Check out her writing.

Oh, so just because she's black she knows about singing, eh!? Way to go, Imus!
