Breaking news; at least 20 dead at Virigina Tech.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/16/vtech.shooting/index.html

Couple of videos on there, no word on suspect or motive, though it seems liek a lone gunman.

And I was amazed that the majority of the news report was on how the weather was bad. Guess someone had a case of the Mondays?

Locke are you our other member that goes to VTech? I can't remember.

I remember Saeros is there. I can't imagine the chaos involved in that dorm shooting, nor the randomness of sitting in class and seeing a gunman come through the doors.

We're all Hokies today.

I think the joke you're looking for is, "Twenty morons from Virginia were sent to the UK, raising the IQ of both places."

While I've never quite managed to understand that joke, I've always enjoyed it. (Here it's "[i]What happens if half of Chelsea's fans defect to support ******************

Update. Average IQ now up by 65%.

Q: How can you spot an extrovert Engineering student?
A: He stares at your shoes while he's talking to you.

While the comedy is interesting, it's not really appropriate. Now the FBI is in control, and they're saying that the shootings are the work of the same person.

I take it back.

This is hardly the place for poor taste jokes about human tragedy.

Oh, wait. . .

In other news, Bush is formulating a Whitehouse briefing that makes a clear connection between Saddam, Osama, Obama, Kim-Jong-Il and Michael Moore's known links with Virginia's anti-student lobby.

Oh, and FUck Off Metastophicleas you sentimentalist cnut

Nobbs, the only reason that I think it's in bad taste is because I've got a bunch of friends there, and not knowing if they're dead or wounded is kinda bugging me. I will admit the jokes were funny, just in poor taste, IMO.

Oh seriously, they're students FFS. It's not like they're real people or anything!

Now if they'd been Lesbian Midgets or Power Rangers or the cast of "The OC" I'd be first in line for a minute's silence.

Edited to add: ZOMGZ0rzz!!eleven11! My Kharmaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Smiley: grinSmiley: laughSmiley: lol

To be serious for a moment Smiley: clown. . .

Who suspects that in the middle of this tragedy, some emo student is playing auction wars between Fox, ABC, CNN, SKY etc., for the footage of the dead and dying he took on the cell-phone his daddy bought for him. . .

Just me?

Meanwhile, watch those liberal lefties push their flakey argument that guns should not me made available to any old fUckslap. Smiley: oyvey

The Drudge Report is stating that:

SKY NEWS: Witnesses said he was heavily armed and entered the college looking for his girlfriend... He reportedly lined up students and opened fire at them. He was said to be an Asian, in his mid-20s...

One of my best friends goes to school at VT. As soon as I found out, I called him, but there was no answer on his cell phone. Then, I called his parents, and thankfully, he's fine. Unfortunately, one of his fraternity brothers was among the victims, but at least he's safe.

I'll take you up on that one.

The image quality on the video was good, except for all the shaking. Pretty damn windy though, so I can easily understand.

“I’m from the Middle East, so I’m not used to this sort of thing, but I’ve been in similar situations,” Albarghouti told MSNBC-TV.

During this tragic time, this gave me a chuckle.

Be more specific.

Chinese? Indian? Japanese? Burmese?

We have to be certain so we can confidently demonize the right ethnic group.

This is utterly tragic, and already the focus is turning on irrelevant aspects of the alleged perp.

Well, I already had a client in the lobby tell me that it has to be a terrorist act because it's impossible for a college student to have done that.

So. Terrorist or Grand Theft Auto. Coin flip anyone? Smiley: oyvey

He looked at me like I was crazy when I told him that it was probably one of the students gone loco. He tells me "there hasn't been one of those since columbine!"

...

Since I'm stubborn, I tell him he's wrong and there have been several; none of them being terrorists. So he pauses...then tells me "well, I believe it if it was highschool, but not college."

That was my cue to nod and smile.
