And really, a baseball bat is much more satisfying.

Especially the aluminum ones. Yay!

Anecdotes aren't data. If someone had stopped the beating by grabbing a handy baseball bat from sporting goods (or a lamp from Housewares) and braining the assailiant, I doubt you'd be accepting that as evidence that we don't need conceal-carry laws.

Yes, however, the people standing there did nothing but watch. It was an old lady with a pistol that saved the day.

While I have to admit that the thud, and squish you get from a bat is nice (I prefer wooden, because the squish is better sounding, and you get a good feel when you connect, plus I hate the ringing of aluminimum), the quick end was far better, and there was less mess for the illegal dude to clean up.

Which, again, doesn't prove much except that people suck in general. While I suppose having a gun gave this particular lady the chance to be the hero, it could have probably been damn near anyone had the person sacked up and acted.

Then you should wear a crash helmet while driving. It would increase your chances of living by a factor of about 100 compared to carrying a gun.

You won't, though, because having a gun has nothing to do with mitigating risk of dying. It has to do with fear and insecurity. People who carry guns are terrified of being impotent and not in control. The reality is, having a gun doesn't make you any safer, it's been documented 100 times. It just makes certain personality types *feel better*. I'm not one of those personality types, I guess.

I absolutely love this poem.

My brother, who was a bit of a rebel in his youth, made a giant banner with those words written on it in French. It was for a protest against the far-right in France. The banner was 45 metres long and 15 metres wide. At 5 in the morning, they climbed up the scafoldings of the Pantheon, and unfolded the banner. They took pictures, films, called the media who came and filmed it, then the police arrived, took the banner down, and they all got taken into custody.

It made the local news, it was pretty fUcking cool.

Anyway, wise words...

Only in your crazy little world could unfloding a giant banner be called "vandalising".

But since it annoys me that you don't seem to like me much, I'll tell you this: He capitalistically bought the banner from a capitalist shop with capitalist money he had earned from capitalistically working.

In a capitalist job, no doubt.

Us commies sure ain't what we used to be.

just making a point. You know, as well as I, it's illegal to post signs on businesses without express written consent.

True, but I must admit that I'm unfamiliar with whether or not it's illegal to post banners on temples in Rome.

I'd assume so but I can't say for sure. But I can sound authoritative about it on the internet!

Well. It is *absolutely* illegal to put a banner on a temple in Rome. There is no question about it and no question that these men were in the wrong.

See? Smiley: smile
