I'm not ashamed to say I was into Menudo or NKOTB back in my day. They were awesomecool, and I was a chick that knew what was hip. I often like to re-visit that music with no real shame in my game (Whatup, TooShort!) because, let's face it, I have an hour-and-a-half commute each way and I gotta get my car-dance on. I'll usually roll my windshield down and allow folks to share in the jammability of my Bell Biv Devoe, LL Cool J, hell, even my Criss Cross. Those who want to talk smack can suck it, 'cause it's hard to hear when you're trying to shift and do the roger rabbit all at once.

However yesterday, during my weekly trip to Portillo's with Jr. in the back, I put on what he calls "The Happy Song." It came up once upon a time on some remix and I downloaded it not even remembering who the artist was. Afterwards, Jr. heard it on the shuffle, and, pausing between telling me places where the cat could store his grenade, asked me to turn it up and what was it called. I realized, after I told him and as he sung along with the mad catchy piano, that I was ashamed to tell him we were boucing around to Color Me Badd's All For Love. Smiley: blush

That might have to be our song during the wedding. Jr.'s quite the dancer.

Any music you're dead ashamed of but secretly glory in? I'm a ***** for a good beat, so there's quite a few songs out there, but this is by far my most shameful.

I own a Justin Timberlake CD.

Of all the things I've ever posted here, this makes me feel the dirtiest.

I have a collection of embarassing music I justify with the cover-term of "comfort music". That is, songs which remind you of previous times in your life when you were young and naive and all was right in the world.

This is my excuse for having Juice Newton's "Queen of Hearts" on the MP3 player.

I have the same thing. I still get a little teary eyed at "I'll be there for you" by Bon Jovi.

I have every Abba song on my IPOD and I'm too lazy to hit shuffle much of the time, so it's like a gay pride parade for the first 2 hours.

Oh, I also have soundtracks to several bad movies that I love for the same nostalgic reasons. For example, and as I've mentioned before, I have the soundtrack to Streets of Fire.

My father, famous for his hatred of gays, jews, the military, blacks, and rock-n-roll music, says the only good music the United States has produced since Benny Goodman are The Bee Gees and Abba.

I didn't have the heart to tell him. Smiley: frown

My guilty pleasure when it comes to music is the fact that I own and listen to Avril LAvigne's first two albums...

#13REDACTED, Posted: Apr 13 2007 at 7:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hell yeah, I can dig that stuff. Nothing to be ashamed of at all. They still play some of that stuff at clubs too. Last weekend was my DC trip to Rosslyn and one of the late night places we ended up was Ultra Bar, with hip hop on the first floor, latin/reggaetone on the top, and uh I guess other pop music downstairs. When Montell Jordan's "This is How We Do It" came on, there were an awful lot of people who knew and were singing those words. Also by Montell you could add "Return of the Mac" and "Get it On Tonight".

Nothing at all guilty about loving Bon Jovi, Nexa.

They have a new disc coming out this year. I might have to pick it up.

Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby!

I don't care how villified he is and was for bringing that song into this world. I could loop that song and listen to it all day long.

A couple of the songs, yes, mostly while I'm grinding raw chicken or dancing nude in the rain. Sometimes, though, it's both.

I hate to admit it, but I have some Bonjovi, Aerosmith, Boys II Men and even a few Kriss-Kross tracks on my Ipod.

I can sing "End of the Road" off the top of my head, as well as pretty much every GnR song pre-Spaghetti Incident, and most of the songs on Bonjovi's "Keep the Faith" album.

Yeah, I'm cool like that.

Me too. Back in high-school me and my buddies would get good and liquored up, climb to the top of a bluff in one the local parks, wait for a good gust of wind to carry the unbuttoned flaps of our shirts in the wind like a flag, and then we would belt this song while posing and dancing dramatically, preferably as the sun set and the sky turned shades of pink and purple. I always did the deep part, too.
