If there was something catastrophic going on in the world this week he never would have gotten fired. Media took this thing and ran cause there was not much else to report on. With so much attention CBS had no choice. On my local news channel, the Imus story went about 6-8 minutes, the two explosions that killed a total of eighteen in Iraq (4 from the new parliament) got about 3 minutes.

I think this whole thing is bullshit. I was never a huge Imus fan but there has been worst things said about Blacks and especially Whites on Radio.

Not really. It's just capitalism at work. If he'd been arrested or something, that would be an overreaction. His job is to make money by encouraging cooperations to advertise their products during his show. He said something that those corporations decided they didn't want to be associated with, so he's out of a job.
