Unrest.

Befallen was the dungeon off West Commons.

Like BT, I'm really enjoying the game. I guess it helped that I had really low expectations and I keep getting pleasantly surprised. It's far from perfect, but honestly, I haven't been this excited about hopping onto a game since the beginning of WoW and prior to that, EQ.

So count me in for grouping - my main will be my Paladin Dwarf, Snorre. But I'll always have alts available for different low-leveled folks.

I canceled my Vanguard subscription the other day. After doing our taxes I had to figure out ways to cut out all the small expenses that add up to big sums and decided that realistically I could only afford one game.,Choosing between VG and Pikko, I of course chose to stay with Pikko.

The UI. It's ugly.

As for the grouping thing, I'm nearly level ten now, with enough silver to buy my first mount as soon as I ding, and I'm planning to run my DK across Thestra to meet up with Smog--Snorre's dwarf pally.
If you're anywhere near Lomshir, I suggest getting your horse at Dark Horse Downs...you can race against the track time for some xp and monies (it's hard). There are also lots of good quests starting there.

An EQ friend just picked up the game Monday. I told her to start on Hilsbury. I haven't heard back from her yet though about the toon she made or even if she was able to run the game ok. I plan on jumping on to hang with her at some point. I'll be on the look-out for any familiar Asylum names.

I purchased Vanguard thinking my PC, which is otherwise a power house, would be able to utilize it. Wrong, terribly wrong.

I have dual 2.8ghz processors, a high class video card, and a gig of ram. That's not enough to run Vanguard to a decent point while SOLOING. With no one around. Town NPC's or other players. The engine is just absurd, no PC game needs to have a computer that can solo flying the NASA space shuttles. It's just not necessary, and their hurting off it greatly now.

I just think it's a game with good intentions but absurdly poor implementation. And I don't buy this half *** apology/concession to ******* up. I know better how they should have made this game, they knew better as to how they should have made this game while making it, they must have put blinders on when they went to work. That or the stars in their eyes were what blinded them.

Have they managed to get it dual core friendly, that might be your problem. That and you need another gig of ram.

My PC is dual-core, runs fine for me and wouldn't say I have a high-end video card but I do have 2+gigs of RAM, that's key, methinks.

I have a 3.73GHz processor, 2 Gig of RAM and an ATI Radeon X850XT 256 MB Platinum Edition video card. My system is basically middling to low level at this point in terms of power (yours being only a little bit higher in combined processor power than mine). I highly recommend throwing another gig of RAM in for any game out today. I hope picking up a new video card at some point will allow me to raise my graphics quality and still retain decent performance.

They are working to reduce the resource-hogging to run this game - in today's patch, they mention that:

Some significant enhancements to graphics performance on the High and Highest Performance settings should be seen.

I haven't really seen too much of a difference in terms of graphic detail when having my settings set to highest quality graphics/poor performance against my current middle quality graphics/better performance.

It really is a beautiful game. I spent a couple of hours just roaming about the Dwarven city. It's huge and has all kinds of Dwarven awesomeness in it (i.e., tavern, holy temple, housing areas, king's audience room, an amazing fighting arena, etc.) It's truly a Dwarven wet dream. I know, that's a creepy visual on so many levels, but there ya go.

A gig of ram and less than 3ghz processor? That's not a powerhouse, that was midlevel a year ago. Get another gig of ram and most of your problems will disappear.

Well, to be fair, i do believe the space shuttles are all using 1980s computer techs. I seem to remember hearing NASA buying up all the 8088-platform hardware off ebay a few years ago.

I almost bought VG at the store today, but I do have a few reservations: my PC is only a p4-3.0 proc with x1300Pro video, but 2gb RAM. And I'm currently unemployed and need to keep looking for a job, not starting a new game. Battlefield2 already takes up enough of my time.

What is the subscription rate, anyways?

$14.99 a month. Less for more time of course.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I canceled my station pass back when it was $20 per month because at the time I didn't think I'd be getting Vanguard after all and I was burned out on EQ2. No way in hell I'm paying $30 a month now. Besides, I don't have the time to play any other Sony game (i.e., EQ2) while playing Vanguard, LOTRO, and WoW. Hell, Vanguard is so much fun I'm neglecting LOTRO and WoW now.

Here's some screenshots I took today:

King Snorre at Dwarven Arena Throne

King Snorre at Dwarven Arena Throne 2

Snorre Rides Again in front of Dwarven city - Level 10 mount. Every 10 levels or so you can buy a faster mount - variety of mounts include horses, camels, unicorns, shadow hounds (demonic looking worgs), and eventually flying mounts (griffons, wyverns, and pegasus).
